I am a dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC). I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Post-Master's degree with a specialty in Mental Health Practice from University of Massachusetts Global and a Post-Master's Certificate in Family Practice from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. I have also completed advanced training at UC Irvine School of Medicine Fellowship Program TNT Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship. Presently, undergoing another fellowship program in Addiction Medicine through the University of California, Irvine. With more than 15 years of nursing experience, I bring a comprehensive understanding of both the physical and emotional aspects of patient care. My background in bedside nursing has shaped my holistic, compassionate approach to treatment and strengthened my ability to recognize the unique needs of each individual. I specialize in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral health conditions through evidence-based medication management and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate. As both a clinician and educator, I am committed to empowering patients with the knowledge and support they need to achieve lasting mental wellness.

First session

Your initial appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation lasting approximately 45 to 60 minutes. During this visit, we will get to know one another, discuss your concerns, and explore the challenges that have brought you to treatment. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences. We will review your mental health history, medical history, family history, current symptoms, previous treatments, medications, and lifestyle factors that may be affecting your well-being. This thorough assessment helps ensure an accurate diagnosis and allows us to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals. When clinically indicated, laboratory testing, an electrocardiogram (EKG), urine drug screening, or other relevant medical records may be requested to support safe and effective treatment. We will discuss treatment options, which may include medication management, psychotherapy referrals, lifestyle modifications, or a combination of approaches. Please note that controlled substances are not prescribed during the initial evaluation. If a controlled medication is considered clinically appropriate, it will only be prescribed after a comprehensive evaluation, review of appropriate medical records, necessary laboratory testing, and urine drug screening to ensure safe and responsible care. Before the end of our visit, we will review confidentiality, office policies, follow-up recommendations, and establish a treatment plan designed to support your mental health goals. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward improved emotional health and overall well-being.

Strengths

Throughout my healthcare career, I have learned that meaningful healing begins with listening, understanding, and treating the whole person—not just the diagnosis. I believe in providing compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based care grounded in honesty, respect, and collaboration. Every treatment plan is tailored to each patient's unique needs, values, and goals. I strive to build strong therapeutic relationships based on trust, empathy, and open communication. Patients are encouraged to ask questions, participate actively in treatment decisions, and feel empowered throughout their care. For non-urgent questions, patients may contact me through the secure patient portal or email. Messages are reviewed daily, and I typically respond within one business day. My administrative team is also available to assist with scheduling and other office-related needs. My goal is to provide high-quality psychiatric care in a supportive environment where you feel respected, heard, and confident in your path toward recovery.

Ideal clients

I specialize in treating adolescents, college students, and adults with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. My practice focuses on supporting individuals through life's transitions—from the teenage years and college to early and mid-adulthood—when emotional challenges, academic demands, career pressures, and changing relationships can feel overwhelming. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, personalized medication management, and supportive therapy in a compassionate, collaborative environment. I believe the best outcomes come from building a trusting relationship where clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment decisions. Whether you're struggling with persistent worry, low mood, difficulty focusing, stress, or feeling overwhelmed by daily responsibilities, I work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that promotes lasting emotional wellness, improved functioning, and a better quality of life. Areas of Focus Anxiety disorders Depression and mood disorders Academic and college-related stress Young adult life transitions Stress management and emotional resilience Medication management with supportive therapy

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

While my primary focus is psychiatric evaluation and medication management, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles into our sessions when appropriate. CBT helps identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. Together, we will explore practical strategies to improve coping skills, build resilience, manage anxiety and depression, and support healthier ways of thinking and responding to life's challenges. When additional psychotherapy is beneficial, I will coordinate care with your therapist to ensure a comprehensive treatment approach.
