Welcome! I'm Jacqueline Stevens, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I received my Masters degree from California State University Long Beach. I have extensive experience working with diverse populations from all socioeconomic backgrounds in a variety of settings, including child welfare and medical social work. I have been practicing as a clinician for the past 6 years helping individuals manage anxiety, depression, stress, and life changes in a supportive, empathetic, culturally sensitive, and strength-based environment.
In our first session, we will have introductions, complete intake paperwork, and discuss expectations for our work together. We will also complete assessments which will provide me with a good picture of who you are, including your strengths and specific challenges you are facing at this time. This information will help me create an individualized plan for you to guide our follow-up sessions. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.
I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore their concerns related to anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication and boundaries that can help improve their quality of life. I care deeply about each individual I work with and their growth.
I love working with individuals who are invested in making changes for themselves to meet their goals. Anxiety, depression, stress, and life changes can be scary and overwhelming at times which can make us feel stuck. Learning new tools in our work together can effect positive change leading to improved quality of life.
Jacqueline Stevens offers therapy covered by Blue Shield of California - Medi-Cal, Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan (Medi-Cal), CalViva Health (Medi-Cal), Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Community Health Plan of Imperial Valley (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Net (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
I have been using CBT with clients for the past 6 years. CBT helps clients to recognize the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how they influence each other. Gaining a better understanding of these processes can allow for changes to thinking patterns and beliefs, which can further lead to reduced anxiety, depression and stress.
Sometimes we are faced with a specific challenge in our life and need additional support to determine how to proceed. We will work together to identify what is challenging and look at ideas to help you reach your goal(s) because you know best and you may have these answers within yourself.
I help clients understand how their past experiences may shape their lives today.
