Hello, my name is Jumoke Omisore, MSN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, CRNP. I obtained a double master's degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore and Walden University Minneapolis. I hold dual certifications as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. I am a board-certified PMHNP, and Family Nurse practitioner based in Maryland. I have experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. My approach to therapy is holistic and strength-based, focusing on helping clients navigate and resolve a wide range of life challenges. By drawing upon an individual’s unique strengths, I work to foster resilience and encourage a continuous journey of healing, growth, and self-discovery. My goal is to create a supportive environment that empowers clients to uncover deeper insights, develop effective coping strategies, and enhance their overall well-being. I deliver top-notch, culturally sensitive, evidence-based healthcare to individuals of all ages. My proficiency includes medication management, substance abuse treatment, psychotherapy, and motivational interviewing.
In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming environment where they have the space to share their stories, concerns, and goals at a pace that feels comfortable for them. I will ask questions to learn about your history, psychosocial details, and current life situation. We will also discuss the reason for seeking therapy, and how I can be of help to you. This initial session is also about building a connection and establishing a foundation of trust. I’ll ask questions to understand their unique experiences, challenges, and what they’re hoping to achieve in treatment, therapy, and counseling sessions. I will continue to ask questions during sessions to help develop goals and treatment plans.

I provide a therapeutic, comfortable, and empathetic environment for patients dealing with a variety of mental health disorders. I utilized active listening skills, therapeutic communication, adeptness in motivational interviewing, and established a non-judgmental environment where patients feel comfortable and supported. I provide comprehensive mental health assessments, screening, diagnosing, and prescribing medication management for patients across all age groups. My focus includes individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, schizophrenia, and personality disorders, utilizing evidence-based treatment approaches.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapeutic approach that centers on understanding human suffering as an essential part of personal growth and purpose. Rather than attempting to eliminate pain, ACT encourages individuals to acknowledge their suffering, clarify their values, and commit to actions that align with these values, ultimately helping them lead meaningful lives. In my practice, I have used ACT to help clients become more mindful of the patterns of suffering they experience, recognizing these as part of the human condition. By fostering this awareness, clients are empowered to respond differently to pain rather than allowing it to control their thoughts and actions. Through ACT’s emphasis on mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and cognitive defusion, clients learn to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment, creating a sense of cognitive and emotional balance.
I consistently utilized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a primary treatment modality in my clinical practice. CBT is an evidence-based approach that effectively addresses a wide range of mental health conditions by engaging both clinician and client in a collaborative exploration of the underlying reasons for specific thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses. The strength of CBT lies in its focus on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It emphasizes identifying and restructuring negative or maladaptive thought patterns, which in turn positively influences behavior and emotional well-being. By guiding clients to recognize and challenge distorted thoughts, CBT empowers them to adopt healthier cognitive patterns. I often use CBT to aid clients in identifying, challenging, and reframing any distressing thoughts or worries to enhance their ability to have more positive, helpful, thoughts.
I find this treatment modality to be most effective with clients who are looking to overcome a specific problem or reach a particular goal and feel like they just need some support and to reach their goals. With this modality I use different techniques and questions to help the client connect with strengths and resources they already have and have successfully leveraged in the past. It is a way of awakening and reconnecting them to the solutions/options that they already have floating around in their mind.
