Hello, and Thank You for reading my profile! My name is Sharlene Hanaway. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for many years. During that time, I have worked with many clients who have been deeply challenged by their life circumstances and everyday issues. My clients have tried many different ways to help themselves but need fresh eyes and someone who can help them change their perspectives about the things they can change and let go of the things they can not change. It is a collaborative relationship where we find what works for you! I welcome you to work with me, so you can move on from the issues that are getting in the way of your living the life you want. However, at this time, I am no longer accepting clients for Couple Therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together, we do a Mental Health Evaluation. If we have time left, we go on to talk about and identify the goals you would like to achieve in therapy. The second session is usually identifying which of those goals are a priority for you, usually narrowing it down to two or three of the most important ones.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

When appropriate, I do a lot of Boundary work regarding relationships, as well as "Self-Boundary" work. This work helps you define "where you begin and where you end". It helps to define who you are so you can be more proactive in situations rather than reactive. This work helps develop self-confidence as you get to know yourself more and also helps with how you want to "show up" in your relationships.
