Hi! My name is Julie. Do you feel like your focus is on life's many obstacles and your inability to overcome them causing you to become depressed, stressed, and anxious in all aspects of your life? I would love to help you realize your ability to overcome life's challenges, not just by setting realistic, achievable goals, but by also allowing yourself to be human and make mistakes and then learn from those mistakes and find a way to move forward. I believe in meeting people where they are and approaching therapy from a strength's-based approach to help instill hope. I will utilize mindfulness as well as other calming strategies and evidence-based practices to help you heal and grow in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
I strive to create a respectful therapeutic relationship based on honesty and trust. I like to start each session where you are. Although early in the treatment process goals are established, I know and understand that life happens and situations may arise.
I think the first and foremost important tool is active listening. I find tools from a variety of treatment modalities to be effective. I frequently use techniques from both CBT and DBT, and always approach the client relationship from a strength-based perspective.
I feel that it is imperative as a therapist to be empathetic and approachable. I feel that people are able to open up to me and be honest without fear of judgement.
