With experience as a secondary school teacher, mentor, and basketball coach, I have had the privilege of guiding individuals not only in academics and sports but also in navigating life’s challenges. Over the course of more than 10 years in social work and 4 years as a mental health therapist, I have gained extensive knowledge in the helping and healing process, which forms the core of my work. I am a dedicated and compassionate individual who embraces multiple roles in both my personal and professional life. As a husband and father, I am committed to providing love, support, and guidance to my family. Professionally, my journey reflects a deep passion for encouraging growth and positive transformations in other's lives. My empathetic nature enables me to connect with people on a personal level, fostering trust and openness which are essential elements in building a successful therapeutic relationship. While all of us are complex individuals, I see each person as holding unique potential and strengths—like a personal "password" waiting to be unlocked. I am driven by the belief that everyone can become the best version of themselves, and I am here to help them discover and activate that potential. My approach is one of support, encouragement, and understanding as I walk alongside others on their journey to growth and healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, you can expect to experience a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can share your thoughts, feelings, and concerns openly. I’ll begin by building rapport and establishing trust, taking the time to truly listen to your story. I’ll guide the conversation by asking thoughtful questions to better understand your current situation, goals, and any challenges you may be facing—whether emotional, mental, or situational.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths lies in my ability to create and guide individuals through a personalized ‘playbook’ for success. Having spent years as an athletic coach, I’ve learned that every person, like every team, has unique strengths and challenges. Just as in sports, where we adjust strategies based on the players’ abilities, I work with my clients to develop tailored approaches that play to their personal strengths while helping them navigate obstacles. Whether it's in overcoming emotional challenges or achieving personal growth, I see my role as a life coach—helping them design a plan, stay motivated, and build the skills needed to succeed, both on and off the field of life. I have the distinct capability of creating a non-biased, non-judgmental, and safe environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing their innermost thoughts and struggles.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

The person who knows they are more than just a label or diagnosis. Society and the DSM-5 may categorize behaviors or conditions, but I see individuals beyond these definitions. I work to understand the person as a whole—beyond labels and limitations. My approach focuses on the unique experiences, strengths, and potential each individual holds, helping them to unlock their full potential and find their path forward, regardless of how they may have been categorized by the world around them.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I was introduced to CBT during my graduate program, where I was drawn to its structured approach and evidence-based effectiveness in treating various mental health conditions. I chose to incorporate CBT into my practice because of its collaborative nature and how it empowers clients to become active participants in their healing process. In my practice, I begin by thoroughly assessing each client’s concerns, lifestyle, and thought patterns. Based on this, I tailor CBT interventions to address their specific needs, whether that’s through cognitive reframing or using behavioral exercises to break negative cycles.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I chose to integrate ACT into my practice because of its unique blend of mindfulness and behavioral change strategies. I was drawn to its ability to help clients accept difficult emotions while taking committed action toward their values, rather than solely focusing on symptom reduction. ACT has transformed the way I approach therapy, allowing clients to embrace their individual inner experiences while actively working toward meaningful life changes. I remain committed to refining my skills and helping clients cultivate the psychological flexibility that leads to a richer, more fulfilling life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I chose to integrate DBT into my practice because of its proven effectiveness with clients who have difficulty regulating emotions, managing relationships, and coping with intense distress. I particularly appreciate DBT’s combination of mindfulness, validation, and behavioral change strategies, which allow clients to experience real, lasting change.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I first encountered Solution-Focused Brief Therapy during my professional training, where I was drawn to its practical, goal-oriented approach that emphasizes clients’ strengths and solutions rather than focusing on their problems. This approach felt like a natural fit for my practice, especially when working with clients who were looking for concrete strategies to make positive changes in their lives. I worked in a program that focused on "Passwords". My job as a mentor there involved the process of helping individuals "find their password to unlocking their success". This unique approach stood out to me because we focused on the individual's strengths as opposed to trying to "fix" all of their weaknesses. I bring this into my practice as I believe this helps clients begin to see themselves from a positive vantage point.

Family Therapy

My journey with family therapy began in my work with children and families in child and family services. I saw firsthand how family dynamics deeply impacted individual behavior, emotional development, and overall well-being. This sparked my interest in learning how to apply therapeutic techniques that could foster healthier family systems. Family therapy has become a cornerstone of my practice, and I remain deeply committed to helping families improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their bonds. By drawing on my diverse experiences as a mentor, coach, teacher, and child and family services worker, I strive to offer families the support and tools they need to thrive together.
