LCSW, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, dedicated to improving the lives of children, adolescents, and young adults. I work full-time as a school social worker and understand the unique challenges of students today. I utilize my school experience with my therapy experience in CBT, DBT, and play therapy to support clients with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and school and peer difficulties. I also work to empower parents to respond to their children's needs. I know the difficulties of finding providers with flexibility, so I offer virtual sessions during after-school hours on a weekly and biweekly basis. Interested? Book a session with me, and let's see what we can do together!
Meeting a therapist, especially virtually, can feel daunting and sometimes awkward. My goal with the first session is to decrease any stress associated with starting therapy and really just get to know each other. We will introduce ourselves to each other, explore what therapy is, talk about what you are looking for in therapy, and think about how we can make our sessions work for you. I want you to walk away from our session feeling like you've just gained someone in your corner!
I have 5 years of experience working in therapy settings and schools, helping students overcome barriers to their success at home and at school. I understand the unique challenges of being a young child, adolescent, and adult today, and I combine my experience with evidence-based therapeutic techniques and a passion to see others succeed to create a meaningful, productive therapy experience.
I love to work with clients aged 6-22 who are seeking support in becoming the best version of themselves! I work specifically with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents to manage difficulties associated with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and school and peer difficulties.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help clients explore how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. Once we are successful in identifying what their feelings and thoughts are, I help clients reframe negative thought patterns and learn coping strategies to increase positive, healthy behaviors.
I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy principles in my practice to help clients find the balance between accepting their emotions and finding healthier ways to respond to these emotions. Especially for adolescents, Dialectical Behavior Therapy can be helpful to build their ability to tolerate and manage stressful situations and emotions, including with their peers.
Play allows children the opportunity to explore and learn how to respond to their world. I use play therapy techniques to increase child clients' comfortability with the therapeutic process. Based on a child's choice of play activity and behaviors within the play, I can also help parents understand and better respond to their child's behaviors and needs.
I believe my role as a therapist is to support clients towards growth. I employ a strengths-based approach, emphasizing clients' strengths and interests, to help clients identify realistic and individualized ways to address their needs. This practice increases clients' willingness to change and their success with change.
