First session
During your first appointment, we’ll take time to get to know one another and discuss what brings you to treatment. I will ask questions about your current symptoms, mental health history, medical history, medications, lifestyle, and treatment goals to gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs. This initial evaluation is a collaborative conversation designed to help identify concerns, establish diagnoses when appropriate, and develop a personalized treatment plan. Together, we’ll discuss treatment options, which may include medication management, therapy recommendations, lifestyle strategies, or additional resources. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences and confident about the next steps in your care.
Strengths
I bring a warm, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to every session. I believe that meaningful mental health care begins with building trust and creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. My strengths include active listening, empathy, clinical expertise, and the ability to develop individualized treatment plans that address each person’s unique needs and goals. What sets my approach apart is my commitment to treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis. I combine evidence-based psychiatric care with a holistic perspective, considering the emotional, physical, social, and lifestyle factors that influence mental well-being. I work collaboratively with clients, empowering them to take an active role in their treatment while providing guidance, education, and support every step of the way. My goal is to help clients achieve lasting improvements in their mental health and overall quality of life.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are adolescents, adults and seniors seeking support for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, insomnia, and other mental health concerns that are affecting their daily functioning, relationships, work, or overall quality of life. They may feel overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, struggling with focus and motivation, experiencing mood instability, or having difficulty achieving restful sleep. Whether they are seeking treatment for the first time or looking for a provider who takes a more personalized approach, my clients are motivated to better understand themselves and improve their mental well-being.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, behaviors, and coping strategies that may be contributing to symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, and mood disorders. CBT focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, helping clients develop healthier ways of thinking and responding to life’s challenges. In practice, I work with clients to recognize negative thinking patterns, challenge distorted beliefs, develop effective coping skills, improve problem-solving abilities, and build healthier habits. By learning practical tools and strategies, clients can gain greater control over their symptoms, improve emotional regulation, and create lasting positive changes in their daily lives.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate mindfulness-based techniques to help clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment. Mindfulness encourages individuals to stay grounded in the present moment rather than becoming overwhelmed by worries about the future or regrets about the past. In practice, I teach clients practical mindfulness strategies such as focused breathing, grounding exercises, self-awareness techniques, and stress-reduction skills that can be integrated into daily life. These techniques can help reduce anxiety, improve emotional regulation, enhance focus and concentration, promote better sleep, and increase overall resilience. Mindfulness is often used alongside medication management and other therapeutic approaches to support long-term mental wellness and personal growth
Psychoeducation
I use psychoeducation to help clients better understand their mental health conditions, symptoms, treatment options, and the factors that influence their overall well-being. Providing education empowers clients to make informed decisions about their care and become active participants in the treatment process. In practice, I explain diagnoses, medication benefits and potential side effects, coping strategies, lifestyle factors, and evidence-based treatment approaches in a clear and understandable way. I also help clients recognize symptom patterns, identify triggers, and develop skills to manage challenges more effectively. By increasing knowledge and self-awareness, psychoeducation can reduce uncertainty, improve treatment adherence, and support long-term recovery and wellness. use psychoeducation to help clients better understand their mental health conditions, symptoms, treatment options, and the factors that influence their overall well-being. Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their goals, strengthen motivation for change, and overcome barriers that may be preventing progress. MI is a collaborative, client-centered approach that recognizes that lasting change is most effective when it comes from an individual’s own values, strengths, and readiness for change. In practice, I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, and supportive guidance to help clients identify personal motivations, resolve ambivalence, and build confidence in their ability to make positive changes. MI can be particularly helpful for individuals working to improve mental health symptoms, establish healthier habits, increase treatment adherence, manage substance use concerns, or navigate life transitions. My goal is to empower clients to make meaningful, sustainable changes that align with their personal values and goals.
