Hello! I'm Gustavo Olvera and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), serving clients via telehealth throughout the State of California. My long-time approach to therapy is to meet the client where they are and work with them to identify goals that will help them improve their quality of life. I believe that we all have the potential to succeed in life and the potential to achieve greatness. A healthy mind is key to success, as we often have to make critical decisions daily. I believe we can all achieve our desired goals by increasing and maintaining a positive outlook on our mental health. What attracted me to wanting to become a therapist was my true and honest desire to help others. Seeing how clients benefit from therapy, seeing how clients can truly overcome their mental illness, and seeing how clients can return to normal and healthy day-to-day living is what drives me to continue to do the work that I do. Today I invite you, to allow yourself to start your journey to a better tomorrow; I am inviting you to take a chance. Sadly we can't change what happened yesterday, nor do we know what will happen tomorrow, but we can hope for a better tomorrow by making positive decisions today.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

When you come for your first session, you’ll find a space where you are truly heard, without judgment. I want you to feel comfortable and safe as we start to explore what’s been weighing on you. Together, we’ll take time to talk about what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’m here to walk beside you as you work through anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, or whatever else you're facing, at a pace that feels right for you. My approach is rooted in compassion and understanding, and my goal is to help you feel supported, seen, and empowered to move forward in your journey toward healing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I bring a wealth of experience and a diverse set of evidence-based therapeutic techniques to support individuals, couples, and families through life’s challenges. I specialize in working with a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting, co-parenting, behavioral changes for children and adults, LGBTQ+ issues, and helping those who have experienced abuse. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space for healing and growth. I approach therapy with empathy, understanding, and a conversational style that makes clients feel comfortable and truly heard. I believe in building a deep, personal connection with each client to fully understand your unique experiences, concerns, and goals. Throughout our work together, I remain supportive, engaged, and dedicated to helping you make meaningful progress, ensuring you receive the highest level of care and understanding.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a mental health therapist with a specialization in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals through a wide range of life challenges. With years of experience helping clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, my approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique needs. Grief Therapy

Grief looks different for everyone, and my approach to grief therapy honors each person’s unique journey through loss. I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your feelings at your own pace—whether you're navigating the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or other significant life changes. Through gentle, supportive dialogue and evidence-based techniques, I help clients find meaning, resilience, and hope in the midst of sorrow.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In my work with Solution-Focused Therapy, I help clients tap into their existing strengths and resources to create meaningful, achievable change. Rather than dwelling on problems, we focus on goals, possibilities, and what’s already working in your life. This approach is collaborative, encouraging, and future-oriented—designed to empower you to move forward with clarity and confidence, one step at a time.

Supportive

In supportive therapy, I offer a compassionate and understanding space where you can feel heard, validated, and encouraged as you navigate life’s challenges. My approach focuses on providing emotional support and guidance, helping you build resilience, improve coping skills, and find comfort during difficult times. Together, we’ll create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your feelings and strengthen your inner resources, empowering you to move forward with greater confidence and peace.
