Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I will get to know you a little bit, and learn what goals you have for therapy. I also will take a brief history, as well as learn about the issues you are struggling with in your life that you would like help with.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a very compassionate, empathetic counselor. I enjoy walking along side my clients through their life's journey. My 26 years of experience in professional counseling has taught me therapeutic insight and skills that one can't learn from books. I work with the mind, heart, and body; offering a diverse, as well as alternative approaches to therapy. I bring both my education, experience and true empathetic concern to each session.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with individuals and couples who enjoy learning new tools, coping strategies and want to change old patterns of behaviors. I enjoy making the journey through life's ups and downs with my clients, offering support, empathy, and insight along the way. The world is often difficult to navigate with the ever changing problems we face. COVID added a great deal of issues to our world, from health problems, to isolation, and depression for many people. It put a great strain on some families and relationships that continue to plague families currently. Unfortunately, life can dish out tragedies such as death, abuse, accidents, and traumatic unexpected events. This is where therapy can be a great asset to those struggling. I look at each individual as special while approaching clients from a strength based place. Every person has strengths to overcome their current situation, with support, insight, and better self-awareness.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I’ve been trained in EMDR for almost 15 years. It is a wonderful method to resolve stress and trauma of all kinds. It can be done remotely with video or phone sessions. I use it almost everyday with my clients.

Mind-body approach

The mind/body approach believes that what affects the mind, also affects the body. The body has memory of trauma and experiences also. There are many mind/body therapies such as Somatic Therapy, Sensory Motor, and mindfulness. I incorporate some of these strategies in therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach with CBT is very solution oriented. It offers insight and teaches new skills, and offers tools to help to cope with every day stressors, as well as major issues in relationships and life.

Couples Counseling

Relationships usually begin with joy of heart, love, excitement, and hope for the future. They are often difficult to navigate. They can bring great joy, but also cause us great pain when problems arise. Each individual brings their own baggage, family of origin beliefs and coping skills, as well as human imperfections. I offer support, mediation with difficult or heated issues, and offer functional healthy tools. I enjoy working with couples and bringing them closer together.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS believes that we all of various parts to who we are, and those parts can take over in any given situation. The goal of IFS is to identify each part of ourselves at play, and help integrate those parts into our whole person.
