New to Grow
Hi, I’m Montez, the founder of This Too Shall Pass Counseling. I’m a wife, mother to an amazing son, daughter, sister, and a travel medical social worker who understands firsthand how overwhelming life can feel when you’re carrying a lot for everyone else. The name This Too Shall Pass comes from my personal journey of faith, resilience, and learning that even the hardest seasons don’t last forever. I work with adults who are navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, burnout, and emotional overwhelm. My approach blends evidence-based therapy with faith-centered support, helping clients find clarity, healing, and practical tools they can use in everyday life. I strive to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can show up as you are, reconnect with your strengths, and move forward with confidence, peace, and purpose.
The first session is all about getting to know you and helping you feel comfortable. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and what’s been weighing on you lately—at your pace. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or to share more than you’re ready to. I’ll also explain how therapy works, answer any questions you may have, and collaborate with you on goals that feel realistic and meaningful. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to blend real-life experience with clinical expertise. As a wife, mother, and travel medical social worker, I understand firsthand the demands of balancing family, work, faith, and personal well-being. My approach is warm, practical, and goal-oriented, combining evidence-based therapy with solution-focused strategies and faith-centered support when desired. I meet clients where they are, help them identify their strengths, and provide tools they can actually use outside of sessions. I believe healing is possible, even in hard seasons, and that this chapter does not define your whole story.
My ideal clients are adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or stretched thin, especially women, mothers, professionals, and caregivers who are used to showing up for everyone else but struggle to prioritize themselves. You may be navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, burnout, or emotional exhaustion, while still trying to keep it all together. Many of my clients are faith-based or spiritually curious and want therapy that respects their beliefs while also offering practical tools. If you’re looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space to heal, grow, and regain clarity, you’re in the right place.

I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is all about noticing the patterns, your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how they affect your mood and choices. In our work together, we challenge unhelpful thinking and replace it with healthier, more realistic ways to cope so life feels less overwhelming.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
With Solution-Focused Brief Treatment, we focus less on the problem and more on the outcome you want. We identify your strengths, set goals, and create realistic steps that help you see progress without feeling overwhelmed.
Christian Counseling
I offer Christian counseling that integrates faith and biblical principles with evidence-based therapy. For clients who desire it, we incorporate prayer, scripture, and spiritual reflection to support emotional healing, personal growth, and alignment with God’s purpose.
