I have been in practice for 19 years. I went back to school as an older adult which gave me life experiences that have enriched my counseling practice. I did my internship at a Community Based Outpatient Veterans Clinic in Eugene, OR. I started my private practice in 2007 and work with veterans, couples, and adults. I moved to Portland, OR in 2020 and have done mostly TeleHealth counseling. I do have some in person appointments that are mostly in the evening.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker who believes therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and genuinely human. Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and I work intentionally to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and never judged. I often work with adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, attachment wounds, and the lingering impact of difficult experiences. Many of my clients are high-functioning and capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck internally. Together, we slow things down, make sense of patterns, and build practical tools that actually fit your real life. My approach integrates emotion-focused work, strengths-based perspective, psychoeducation, and motivational interviewing. That means we’ll explore both the “why” behind your experiences and the “how” of moving forward. I value clarity and transparency in therapy — I’ll help you understand what we’re doing and why, while keeping the process grounded and collaborative. Clients often describe me as calm, thoughtful, and direct in a supportive way. I’m not here to tell you what to do — I’m here to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your confidence, and move toward the life and relationships you want. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

Hello! I'm Dr.Nena, your down-to-earth Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Doctor of Natural Medicine, Doctor of Holistic Medicine, and Doctor of Functional Medicine. I specialize in healing the whole person, integrating the therapeutic process with holistic care so that mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being are addressed together, not in isolation. I’m a proud alumna of both Grand Canyon University and Delphi University, and my training allows me to bring together evidence-based counseling, natural medicine, and functional health strategies. This blended approach helps clients move beyond symptoms to create lasting change and deeper balance in their lives. In our sessions, think of it as a circle of trust where your story is respected, your goals are central, and your strengths are the foundation for growth. Together, we’ll combine practical therapeutic tools with holistic methods to support resilience, alignment, and healing on every level. Welcome to a space where mind and body meet, and progress is nurtured with clarity, compassion, and intention.

My name is Christina Wong, Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California since 2007. I am bicultural, and fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. My first job as a social worker was working in a group home for children and youth in Hong Kong. Providing family therapy with troubled teens and their families remained the primary focus of my practice for more than a decade. I also worked with adults of all ages, from young adults to geriatrics. I am humbled to witness the positive impact brought to my clients when a renewed sense of self is obtained, and the innate abilities to solve problems is fostered. This fuels me to dedicate myself to this work for many more years to come. I use an eclectic, person-centered and humanistic approach to meet the clients where they are. I enjoy working with adults of all ages. Of particular interest are immigrants or children of immigrant families to the United States.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by state rather than a city?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across the entire state. If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near your address.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
