I am an older adult who has spent my life in service to others, and have now gained the education, licensing, and experience to continue my life of caring as a therapist. I am a mother and grandmother and share my living space with my cat, Chai. I have worked in Family & Children services, Emergency services, and in Addiction Treatment centers. I have extensive training and experience in helping people recover from trauma, both one-time events and complex events over time. I am familiar with and knowledgeable about cults and manipulative relationships that use undue influence and gas-lighting. My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, and I see myself as an advocate to help you navigate your life.

I bring something to individual and couples therapy that is rare today and not from a text book, that is lived experience. In drawing from different evidence based schools of thought in combination with my lived experiences we will employ such modalities of therapy such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. Adversity and struggle are situations that are common. The goal to avoid both would be ideal but that is not reality. Peace and calmness in the mist of adversity and struggle is a possible reality and what we will strive to help you achieve.

I am an LICSW and I work with adults who are seeking an improved quality of life. I am judgment free and very open-minded, and I believe strongly in human capacity for change. My main goal is your progress, and I may challenge you a bit along the way but I will always treat you with warmth and compassion and I will always be honest and transparent with you. My approach is geared toward an individual's personal motivation, whether they are beginning to contemplate change, they are open to learning new coping strategies, or they are ready to understand and shift patterns of behavior that are no longer serving them in a positive way. We will work together to explore what approach(es) are effective for you and your personality. I try to use humor at times to bring some levity to the process of uncovering feelings and self discovery in a way that feels comfortable and approachable to you.

+ I have been practicing clinical social work since I received my Masters in 1986. Settings I have worked in include: community mental health agencies, youth residential programs, schools (elementary, middle and high school), remote therapy platforms. I love my work and easily connect with all types of clients, placing importance on building trusting therapeutic alliances. I believe that patients exhibit courage to engage in the therapeutic process. I view the therapeutic alliance between myself and client as a partnership. Throughout the process I make sure to check in with the client about how they are perceiving things such as the development of the relationship and the pace of the process for the client. I am always open to feedback.

Hello! I'm glad that you have decided to give therapy a chance and work towards your self-development! My name is Gahensha, and I identify as a first-generation, queer, Black man. Given that I hold these identities, I like to believe that I understand the obstacles and intricacies of seeking out support for one's mental health. While it certainly is not an easy feat, it is one that you will be glad that you set out to accomplish once you make it out on the other side. I specialize in treating depression and anxiety in high-performing individuals across the life spectrum. I take the mental well-being of my clients seriously, so I do my best to stay current with evidence-based treatments and other resources. I then implement them into my practice to increase your chances of success and to feel empowered to overcome your barriers. I value a collaborative approach to ensure that everyone who is involved feels comfortable and ready to work. Throughout the healing process, I pull from a few treatment approaches depending on your needs. If you are looking to start your journey towards a version of yourself that is happier and healthier, I would love to work alongside you!

Hi All, My name is Linda, and I have a deep passion for helping folks grow to the heights they want to achieve. I have been a therapist for years, and have spent a great deal of time helping those who have experienced trauma. I love working with people and have a special place in my heart for the Arts and Music. For many years I owned a woodcraft and ceramic business and continue to keep crafts close to me. I also love music and love to play the organ, piano, and guitar. I was a non-traditional student and received my bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology in 1996 from East Stroudsburg University, then raised my own three children for a while. I returned to school and completed my master's degree in Social Work in 2020 from Capella University. I currently hold an LCSW in PA. I have taken many additional trainings in Trauma-informed counseling, DBT, EMDR, and of course crafts/painting. Helping folks care for themselves is extremely important in life’s struggles, and sharing the heart's desires helps us all navigate the world. It is with great anticipation that I get to know the uniqueness of you in a holistic environment where we can work on reaching the heights of your passion. I hope all my folks find me supportive and comforting on their journey in life. We can do this! See you soon!

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Massachusetts rather than a city like Boston?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Massachusetts from Springfield to Cape Cod! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Massachusetts.

Will my therapist take Tufts Health?

Yes! If you use Tufts Health you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Tufts Health you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
