I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. I graduated from Boston College with my master's in social work. I help adults who have been struggling with trauma (past or present) as well as adults and elders who are struggling with life transitions. I also have a lot of experience with young adults who are struggling with eating disorders.
During our first session together, we will do some introductions and brief housekeeping (how to contact me and confidentiality). We will then move into the challenges that you are facing as well as the strengths that you bring with you. We will set some initial goals and begin to develop a plan for our therapy sessions.
Having been a therapist for over 20 years, I have a lot of experience with different therapies, and I try to use an eclectic approach with each and every client. I find that relying on only one approach does not work well for me as each client is different. I am extremely compassionate, empathetic and truly believe that everyone can heal from whatever is going on in their life. With support and guidance, you will see yourself growing as a person and achieving your goals.
I love working with adults who are dealing with trauma (or who have) to heal from their past. I love to help them to see that life can be different that their current experience. I also love helping people to overcome eating disorders. Finally, I love to work with adults or elders who are facing some life changes.
I have used cognitive behavioral therapy for 20 years. It is helpful to understand how our thoughts impact our feelings. It can help to reduce anxiety and depression.
Over the years, I have discovered that often times the most effective form of therapy is a mixed form of therapy. People are unique and therapy needs to be unique to each and every client treated.
I have been using this form of therapy since I graduated in 2001. I focus on the client as an individual with worth and dignity. A client may be struggling with something, but that problem does not define who they are. Every human is worthwhile... there are no exceptions to this.
This very worthwhile form of therapy can help clients to heal from various types of trauma.
There are many different forms of trauma treatment. I am not trained in EMDR, but have had a lot of success helping clients who have faced trauma.
