Hello! My name is Kayla and I am a licensed mental health therapist practicing virtually within the states of Florida and Massachusetts. I originally began my work as a therapist assisting kids, young adults, and families in Florida with referrals through DCFS, Medicaid, and Child Protection Services. I have since been working via telehealth to help adults and teens work toward their individualized therapeutic goals. I am devoted to helping others become the best version of themselves. I believe in a solution-focused approach involving active listening and compassion. Through the process, we will identify your specific goals and find the most practical techniques to achieve them; we are always in this together.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will get to know one another. I will ask you to talk a little bit more about how you've been feeling and we will work together on setting specific goals that are attainable for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having worked in a high risk, adolescent population in my past, I feel that I can now provide a unique sense of calm to our meetings which I use to encourage comfort for my clients. I believe it is helpful for us to like one another and work as a team, in order to achieve your goals.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with young adults who are experiencing an event of change or difficult transition of any kind. My clients are typically eager to find control and comfort but are unsure how to achieve this. They often feel lost, worried, and sometimes hopeless about their circumstances, which I hope to help them out of!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through years of practice with families in their homes and adults via Telehealth, I have practiced and taught the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and witnessed this method's success. It is a powerful skill to have when facing difficult times of one's life or facing symptoms of diagnoses such as anxiety or depression. Learning how our behaviors, thoughts and feelings connect and emphasizing how the manipulation of thoughts can improve the way we feel is a staple to my practice.

Couples Counseling

I have practiced online and in-person couples counseling in the past. It is a part of my practice which I enjoy. When I am given the opportunity to identify two client's strengths at a time, that can be extremely beneficial to finding a solution together.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I have practiced brief solution focused therapy with many clients, some who achieve success in less than six months. Depending on the situation, setting goals around a problem or adjustment, and guiding the client to create each step to reach those goals has been proven effective in my practice.

Grief Therapy

Previously working with the foster care and group home population, grief became quickly familiar in my practice. Learning to make space for one's grief in a meaningful and healthy way, can be key to the individual's success in life.
