Hi, I’m glad you’re here and taking this step toward finding the right support. Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and I hope this helps you get a sense of whether I might be a good fit for you. I bring over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maine and West Virginia. I earned my undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and completed my master’s degree at the University of Denver. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with youth and adults navigating trauma, grief and loss, and major life transitions. These experiences have shaped my belief that healing looks different for everyone, and that therapy works best when it’s collaborative, respectful, and paced to your needs. No matter what brings you to therapy, my goal is to support you in creating meaningful change and moving toward the life you want—together.

I have always wanted to help people and have been happy to lend an ear or a shoulder to anyone in my path who has ever wanted or needed that. Since adolescence I have been a natural therapist to those around me working my way to where I am now, and I couldn't be happier doing this work. We all need someone to talk to who can help us navigate some of life's challenges. Sometimes we are lucky enough to have a friend or loved one who can give us what we need, but sometimes we need a different perspective or a neutral ear. It is important to know that you don't have to do it alone. If you are feeling overwhelmed by life or struggling to work through some difficulties on your own, support is a helpful and a good thing to seek and accept. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. My goal is to provide an overall experience where you feel comfortable, welcomed and supported in this part of the journey. I use a trauma-informed connection and compassion focused, client lead, strengths based, talk therapy approach. I incorporate evidence based modalities such as, cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, relaxation techniques and structured grief work. Come as you are, I will affirm you and support you in being your most authentic self. The healing journey is personal, non-linear and can feel overwhelming. One of my favorite quotes about therapy is “Therapy is a gift. It is a chance to finally be heard, understood and supported.” If you are ready to take this step and gift this to yourself, I am ready to unconditionally hear and hold your experiences with you on this journey.

I specialize in working with neurodivergent parents of neurodivergent kids — whether you've been formally diagnosed or are just starting to sense that something feels off, in yourself or in your child (or both!) I have expertise in ADHD, autism, anxiety, and the parenting stress that comes with raising a child whose brain works differently than the world expects. I have a background as a play therapist and have been working with parents on various aspects of parenting for over 20 years. Early in my career, I worked with autistic preschoolers – and their parents. I shifted to working exclusively with parents because that is where I can have the greatest impact. I hold an MSW from Boston College a PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where my doctoral research focused on mindfulness, emotion regulation, and parenting stress. What I've learned across decades of working with children and parents is that, more than anything else, parents are influenced by the unconscious emotional blocks and patterns from their own upbringing. I now focus my practice on helping parents identify and clear the emotional programming that is keeping them stuck in unhelpful and ineffective parenting patterns. Instead of letting your childhood programming run the show, you are empowered to be in charge of your choices in parenting and in life.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across the entire state. If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near your address.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
