From a certified special education teacher to a licensed mobile crisis counselor, her diverse background allows her to approach therapy from multiple paradigms. Combining clinical expertise with a heart-driven and data-based approach, she aims to cultivate a safe space for beings to be vulnerable. As a trusted trainer for PESI®, she's also a licensed therapist, neurodiverse parent, prior Special Education Teacher, and an advocate for mental well-being. Hi, I'm Tara, and my journey to becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker has been a winding one. I grew up in California, served in the U.S. Coast Guard, studied abroad, and have three adult daughters. I completed my MSW at the University of New Hampshire and have had the privilege of providing mental health support and counseling to individuals from diverse backgrounds. My professional background includes working for a non-profit, providing therapy in residential, outpatient, and private practice settings.

I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to the United States in my mid-teens, carrying with me resilience, cultural richness, and a deep passion for helping others. My greatest inspiration has always been my mother—a strong, independent woman who taught me compassion, courage, and the power of emotional support. Those values led me to become a therapist dedicated to guiding others through life’s most difficult moments. Today, I specialize in supporting adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, and significant life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that every person is capable of healing. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, process their past, and build the confidence and stability they deserve. Outside of my work, you’ll often find me spending time with my family, enjoying new recipes, walking in my neighborhood, or watching the sunrise—my favorite way to recharge and reset.

My life experiences drew me to become a therapist and gave me a strong desire to help others on their paths. I have worked in a variety of settings, from schools, jails, and hospitals to private practice. I have specialized training in TF-CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, autism, and women's issues, including perinatal, postpartum, and perimenopausal/menopausal issues. My name is LaTonya Thomas and I am a license clinical social worker. I have been in the mental health field for over 14 years and has worked with clients with anxiety, depression, grief, life transition and many more diagnosis. My goal is to help the clients become aware of what may be going on with them and ways to handle it.
