New to Grow
Hello. I’m Jamie and I’ve been a practicing therapist for many years. You may be recovering from addiction, childhood trauma, toxic relationships, or perhaps, all of these things! I know most people don't go through life unscathed by trauma, anxiety, unhealthy habits or some kind of issue that deeply affects them. I also know how to effectively help people begin to address these things. Whether they were caused by genetic predisposition, environmental stress or undeterminable origins, my beliefs are: We can have a life worth living regardless of how it started. There is help worth seeking, and problems get better faster with attention.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In the first session, I will ask a lot of questions so you have the opportunity to elaborate about the reasons you are seeking the help of a therapist. Client's often find this experience, very helpful as they are able to unload some of the weight they have been carrying around for a while. I liken it to coming into the office with a heavy backpack that is burdensome. There we begin to unpack it. Some things are left at the office, other things are rearranged to fit better. Either way, the client leaves the office feeling lighter and more hopeful about addressing the problems that brought them to the office, be it the virtual office or physical location.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I aim to help people resolve their issues, whether they are rooted in unresolved isssues or trauma wounds from the past or stem from a modern world experience of invalidation, unhealthy environments & relations, or a lack of effective coping skills.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
The cleint's I help come to see me with a variety of problems. Often it's related to a current problem with a relationship, addictive habit, or an emotional state such as depression or anxiety. Some of the clients I have helped toward the road of recovery and personal growth were suffering from Sex & Pornography Addiction, Relationship Distress, Depression & Anxiety, General life or career dissatisfaction, Unhealed Attachment wounds from Childhood.
Integrative
My approach and methods are best described as integrative as I have studied and trained in a variety of methods that inform and influence the way I practice. These methods included: CBT, IFS, EMDR, DBT, and MI, as well as many others. I have found that clients deserve an individualized approach they will connect with and that focusing on one method may not address the array of client needs.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
I am trained and use this method to process trauma when appropriate for clients.
EMDR
To be specific I practice Attachment Focused EMDR and am currently seeking training & certification in this methodology. I find it to be extremely helpful to many clients.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I am heavily influenced by the philosophy of ACT which I find to be an evolved way to approach the problems of modern living.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a tried and true method to work on problems with a heavy focus on here & now without deep examination of the past.
