Joanne Levine
I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, and life transitions. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and supported—whether you're managing anger, feeling stuck, or seeking change. I believe healing is layered and ongoing. I provide a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can explore challenges safely. Whether you're coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, or navigating transitions, we'll uncover strengths, identify patterns, and develop practical strategies for meaningful change. I tailor my approach to reflect your values, culture, and preferences.
First session
After a first session, many clients tell me they feel a sense of relief from finally having a safe place to talk openly and be truly heard. They may feel more understood, less alone, and hopeful that things can change. Starting therapy can bring up many emotions, and there is no “right” way to feel after our first session. My hope is that you leave feeling respected, supported, and a little more connected to yourself—with a clearer sense that you don't have to navigate everything on your own. Most importantly, I want you to feel that you have found a space where you can be yourself without judgment, move at your own pace, and begin exploring what healing and growth can look like for you.
Strengths
I use client-centered, trauma-informed practices to create a warm, restorative environment. My collaborative, strengths-based approach gently challenges negative perceptions while working with your unique strengths and interests. We explore coping mechanisms together to foster growth and healing. I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and deep respect. My style is gentle yet direct—I listen closely, offer reflections, and ask thoughtful questions to help you explore and gain insight. I bring warmth, humor, and realness into sessions. My style is down-to-earth and conversational—I meet you where you are.
Ideal clients
I love working with people who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and are looking for a safe, compassionate space to do that. You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, disconnected, or struggling with the impact of past experiences. You may be navigating trauma, relationships, life transitions, anger, or simply wondering, “How did I get here, and how do I move forward?” You don't have to come to therapy with all the answers—or even know exactly what you need. We can figure that out together. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey, and I want you to feel genuinely heard, respected, and accepted for who you are. I especially enjoy working with clients who are curious about themselves and willing to explore new perspectives, even when that exploration feels challenging. We can work together to understand patterns, develop practical tools, reconnect with your strengths, and cultivate greater self-compassion. My goal is to meet you where you are while helping you discover where you want to go. I believe healing and transformation happen at different levels and that each person has the capacity to grow and evolve. My role is to walk alongside you, creating a space where you can feel safe enough to explore, heal, and become more fully yourself.
Treatment methods
Interpersonal
Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a practical, supportive approach that looks at how our relationships and life circumstances can affect our emotional well-being. It recognizes that difficulties such as depression, anxiety, grief, conflict, or major life changes often influence—and are influenced by—the people and relationships around us. In therapy, we may explore important relationships, communication patterns, changes or losses in your life, and situations where you may feel disconnected, misunderstood, or overwhelmed. Together, we work on identifying patterns and developing healthier ways to communicate, express your needs, navigate conflict, and strengthen meaningful connections. I appreciate that IPT focuses on the here and now while also helping us understand how your past experiences may shape the way you relate to others today. The goal is to help you feel more supported, connected, and confident in your relationships while developing skills that can improve your emotional well-being. Therapy is collaborative, and we will tailor the process to your individual experiences and goals. You don't have to navigate relationship challenges or life transitions alone—we can work together to help you create healthier, more fulfilling connections with yourself and others.
