Shola Balogun
Hello! I’m a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner based in Texas with specialized training from Northern Kentucky University. I’m licensed in Texas, New Mexico, and Iowa.
As a healthcare professional since 2008, I understand the connection between emotional, behavioral, and physical health.
I work with individuals from ages 13 to 90 years, providing comprehensive care to help them overcome depression, anxiety, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) insomnia, panic disorder, and mood disorders. My goal is to support my clients in returning to their normal daily routines with improved mental health and well-being. In addition, I help young adults struggling with career stress and burnout become the best versions of themselves. I strive to provide a well-managed, client-centered care, nurturing, nonjudgemental free space to achieve the balance you desire. By incorporating integrative care practices such as psychotherapy, medication management, lifestyle interventions, and complementary therapies, I strive to provide comprehensive and personalized treatment plans that empower my patients to achieve optimal mental health and overall wellness. First session
During your first appointment, you can expect a warm and welcoming space where we’ll take the time to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your mental health history, current challenges, and goals for treatment. I’ll ask questions to understand your unique needs and concerns, and together, we’ll explore options for care, including potential medication management and therapeutic approaches. This session is all about creating a plan that feels right for you.
Strengths
My greatest strengths as a provider lie in my holistic approach to care, my commitment to integrating various therapeutic modalities that best meet the needs of my patients, my ability to listen attentively, my culturally sensitive approach, and my commitment to providing personalized care. I excel at creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can express themselves freely. By incorporating integrative care practices such as psychotherapy, medication management, lifestyle interventions, and complementary therapies, I strive to provide comprehensive and personalized treatment plans that empower my patients to achieve optimal mental health and overall wellness. I also prioritize collaboration, working closely with clients to develop treatment plans that align with their unique needs and goals. This blend of empathy, cultural awareness, and tailored care helps me support clients effectively on their mental health journey.
Ideal clients
I love working with people struggling with mental health challenges. My clients are eager to improve but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious about their careers.
Treatment methods
Supportive
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I incorporate supportive therapy into my practice to assist clients in coping with their symptoms, improving their quality of life, and enhancing their overall mental well-being. Supportive therapy is grounded in establishing a therapeutic alliance between the client and the therapist. This alliance is a foundation for trust, empathy, and collaboration throughout the therapeutic process. By fostering a supportive and nonjudgmental environment, clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In my experience, supportive therapy is particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, and adjustment to life changes. It allows clients to express themselves openly and receive validation for their experiences. Through active listening and empathic responses, I strive to validate clients’ emotions, normalize their experiences, and offer practical strategies for coping and problem-solving. Additionally, supportive therapy focuses on enhancing clients’ strengths and resilience, empowering them to tap into their innate resources to navigate life’s challenges. By encouraging self-reflection and self-awareness, clients gain insights into their thinking and behavior patterns, which can lead to positive changes and personal growth.
