New to Grow
Hey, I'm Michelle! I am a Latina counselor who happens to be Christian and can incorporate that faith into sessions if you desire. If not that's okay too! I like to meet clients where they are and allow them to determine where the sessions go while gently pushing when needed. Often I find my clients enjoy being able to dictate what they want to talk about in a session or what issue they would like to work on and often leave our sessions feeling heard and cared for. I hope to do the same for you!
Our first session normally is an information gathering session. Just let's get to know what is going on in your life, your background, and some goals you want to work on right away. After that intake, I go where you want to go. Either dive right in or play some games to break the ice.
I am a person-centered therapist, meaning, I like to let the client take the lead on their treatment. However, I do push as necessary and am not afraid to be straight with a client as needed. I also use a lot of humor in session when appropriate.
I best serve clients who are motivated to learn and work on their therapy goals. Clients who are learning more about themselves and their symptoms and those who are willing to do the homework assigned to see progress. I am also motivated by clients who have hope for their future or at least hope that something can happen to invoke change.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I allow you as a client to dictate how you would like session run and where you want to go. I take that and use it as guides to then help you with your goals.
Christian Counseling
I am open to using your faith and Scripture to help in your treatment goals. I can reflect where God may speak into some of your experiences and symptoms.
