Hello! I have been practicing psychotherapy for 13 years, licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 2011 (LMFT #50723). I earned my Masters in Counseling from John F. Kennedy University in 2005 with a focus on holistic approaches to psychotherapy that integrate mind, body, spirit. I have advanced training in helping people heal from trauma and I'm certified in EMDR. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and EFIT for individuals who are healing of trauma.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session I will want to help you feel comfortable and give space to any of your questions about the therapy process. I will help you understand the roadmap of therapy and I will want to begin to learn from you what life challenges you would like to work on.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with individuals, couples and teens for over 12 years, my greatest strength as a provider is that I am skilled at helping clients feel safe and becoming curious about their thought patterns and behaviors. I help clients learn to "ride the waves" of their emotional experience and develop more skill in becoming mindful and present when navigating life's challenges.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I celebrate and build upon my client's strengths. Therapy is a place where I help my clients focus attention inward (using mindfulness & somatic informed techniques) and become aware of their own part in relationship difficulties or work/life challenges. Together we investigate long held negative core beliefs that may be serving as obstacles toward their growth. Through processing (using EMDR), we work to shift and transform beliefs in order to find more peace with what is/or was, and lead a more authentic relationship with their Self. I also work with couples (using emotionally focused couples therapy) to strengthen their relationship and shift dynamics that are no longer serving them. In some cases I have also worked with couples who are In addition, I have a specialty for working with individuals who may have grown up in a chaotic family system and/or have a family member with severe mental illness or suffer from addiction. I help my clients learn how to accept what is not within their control and process their range of emotions to find peace within these difficult situations.

My treatment methods

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I have training in EFT for both individuals and couples. This focus helps with healing the wounds of trauma including attachment or relational trauma from childhood. I also work with couples who both have trauma from childhood and work toward buidling secure attachment between the couple.

EMDR

EMDR is an evidence based practice for healing trauma. This uses a multilevel process which helps a client shift and heal their negative beliefs about themselves or the world that was formed due to trauma. This method also helps a client drop into the processing of a traumatic experience and feel more resourced and resiliant moving forward in the world.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy helps clients direct their life and goals through motivated action steps. I use this method when a person is at a cross roads and looking for more direction or motivated change in their life.
