I wholeheartedly believe it’s my role as a therapist to assist you in realizing, accessing and cultivating the internal and external resources that you already possess. Stress, conflict, and pain are those given aspects of life. I'll support you in healing, reconnecting and making empowering choices to achieve peace and feel more joy on a daily basis. Together, we will create a safe space for vulnerability and strength; both are needed for change. Our sessions will allow you to move through stuck points in your mind, relationships and environment. My approach is empathic, direct, emotionally supportive and solutions focused.
I provide an interdisciplinary approach to therapy depending on your needs. Some of my most utilized approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Therapy, Brief Strategic Family Therapy, Family Systems Theory and Mindfulness. I appreciate being given the opportunity to help you improve your sense of self and strengthen your relationships. The first session is a get to know you and assessment session. As with any relationship, the one between a therapist and client(s) takes time to grow. The first sessions are where we are both learning about each other and treatment goals will also be discussed as it's important for me to know how to best serve you as my client.
I see myself as a conduit for change in that I am there to support my clients by listening and gently nudging them towards finding their own answers and growing their coping skills/strengths. Sometimes I function as a coach, a cheerleader, a confidant, a provoker of thought and every session is different as I am a participant in my clients care, not just a bystander. The "work" of therapy is only able to be done when the therapeutic relationship is solid. I am confident in my ability to leave my clients feeling safe enough to find the strength they need to be vulnerable.
We can only be where we are whenever we are there. That goes for our feelings, thoughts and actions alike. ACT is a great framework to support people through any transition in time as we all have choices in how to approach life as it is and find joy / a way out of suffering in each day.
Attachments are the essence of human connection. Attachment theory is woven into my work with clients in how they see themselves and others.
DBT is my preferred modality when working with emotional regulation as the tools are practical and evidenced based.
Sometimes what clients present with is a clear picture of what they need to work on but are looking for practical and easy to implement skills to improve their life's situation or overall mood etc.
