Hello! My name is Cody and I'm currently licensed as an LCSW/therapist in Pennsylvania. I received by Bachelors degree from Coastal Carolina University in 2010 and then my Masters degree from Winthrop University in 2012. I began practicing while I was in graduate school so I'm currently on my 13th year of practice. My clinical background includes outpatient therapy, in-home therapy, integrated behavioral health and primary care, inpatient treatment, and forensic psychology. Since I've run a large span of different practices I consider myself a jack-of-all trades when it comes to mental health and therapy. Things I've treated most are depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA issues, trauma, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, and ADHD. If you don't see your concern listed, don't hesitate to ask! I tell people often, I'm a come-as-you-are type therapist that likes to foster an open and comfortable environment. Together, we can identify what your concerns/goals are, find the best way to address them, monitor your progress, and adjust as needed.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we'll have introductions and get to know you better. This will include diving into the more recent concerns that may be bringing you to seek treatment but also diving into the past at times to understand how some things got set up for you. I encourage you to ask questions during the first session and will be sure to give you as much space as needed to do so. For follow up sessions, that's up to you! Life is unpredictable so your priorities and needs can and will shift - we'll make time for that. We'll always go back to your goals but these can be shifted and changed as you need.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I think my greatest strength is my ability to see you for you who are and meet you where you're at. I know all therapists remain judgment free but I strive to make sure you not only know it but feel it. What I think makes me unique is that I'm openly gay, a music lover, an animal lover, a tattoo connoisseur, I change my hair color like the wind (I'm a former Hot Topic kid - seriously, I ran two HTs in high school and undergrad), and have a great sense of humor. I've also walked the walk of therapy myself and know how hard it can be.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with people that are willing to show up for themselves - that's it. I get immense reward from watching people learn about themselves, grow, and change because they *want* to.

Literally Cody has enhanced and changed my life for the absolute best! I've thrived and been able to face life's challenges head on with his guidance. His authenticity and ability to adapt to the conversation is one of his super powers!!! I could not say enough wonderful things about Cody! He is amazing at what he does and I am grateful for him because he completely changed by mind about the value of therapy!

I found Cody through my insurance portal and have been super happy with every session we've had together. He's down to earth and doesn't put on any pretentious airs. You (or at least I) don't feel like he's there as a stereotypical "tell me how you feel" while you lay on a couch trope, which is a huge win in my books. His insights are thoughtful and he knows when to dig into something or let it lie until I have the mental resources to tackle it. Highly recommended.

Cody has been an invaluable component of my healing process. Working with him has been the single-most important aspect of helping me to address trauma and mental health challenges. He is very knowledgeable, accepting, and caring. I have been able to build upon my own set of tools and continue to implement new ones while under his care, which is exactly what I set out to do with a therapist.
