In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Think of our initial session as a collaborative experiment to determine our fit. You'll be invited to share your story freely, and I will ask clarifying questions to build the most complete picture possible. The most important outcome is our shared decision on whether this partnership will be effective for you. I acknowledge that approaching therapy can often bring hesitation, and simply making it to this first session is a monumental achievement. I deeply respect that effort and am committed to ensuring your experience is positive and supportive.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach to client care in mental health therapy is grounded in the belief that each individual is unique, possesses inherent worth, and has the capacity for growth and healing. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is safe, supportive, and empowering, where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. This approach is integrative, drawing upon various therapeutic modalities to tailor treatment to the specific needs and goals of each client. Here, I'll elaborate on the core principles and practices that define my approach. Core Principles Client-Centered Approach: At the heart of my practice is a commitment to client-centered care. The client is the primary focus, and their needs, preferences, and goals guide the therapeutic process. Clients are the experts on their own lives, and my role is to facilitate their self-discovery and growth. Empathy: I strive to deeply understand the client's perspective, feelings, and experiences. Empathy involves active listening, reflecting back what I hear, and validating the client's emotions. Unconditional Positive Regard: I offer clients non-judgmental acceptance and support, regardless of their thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. Congruence: I aim to be genuine and authentic in my interactions. With me "what you see is what you get." I'm not smarter or better than you but I do have skills developed over more than two decades as a therapist that can help others as they go through their own healing journeys.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are individuals who are seeking personal growth, healing, and a more fulfilling life. They are diverse in their backgrounds, experiences, and challenges, but they share a common desire to understand themselves better, overcome difficulties, and develop healthier ways of being. These clients are willing to engage in a collaborative therapeutic process, where they actively participate in setting goals, exploring their thoughts and feelings, and taking steps to make positive changes. They value a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where they can feel heard, understood, and respected. To meet the needs of my ideal clients, I draw upon a client-centered approach, tailoring treatment to their specific needs and goals. I utilize a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and techniques, such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based therapies, to address a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. I also incorporate a holistic perspective, recognizing the interconnectedness of their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
