16 years of experience
Hi there, I'm Janice. I'm happy you found my page and I hope we can connect. When you come to therapy you get to be vulnerable and explore the fears and tough feelings that you worry you cant express to the people you love. As you get more comfortable talking to me about your real wants and needs, you build the skills that will enable you to live a more fulfilling life and at your full potential. I'm committed to helping you sift through your story, your pain, and your collection of struggles and together learn solutions to your problems. I believe there is no one-size fits all approach to therapy. Ill take time in understanding exactly what you are experiencing and why so that when you start making changes that improve your life, they will stick. I'm looking forward to working with you!
My approach is collaborative, warm, and accepting. With that said, my goal is to give you the quickest relief possible, which means I provide immediate feedback, tasks to focus on between sessions, and tools to learn coping skills. Nothing makes me happier than helping my clients thrive and feel better about themselves!
My areas of specialty are Depression and Anxiety. I'm most familiar with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approaches. I'm also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I love to incorporate meditation, especially Progressive Muscle Relaxation. Breathing techniques, and journaling are also wonderful coping skills that can be used. As I get to know you, we can collaborate and practice coping skills that best serve you.
I have been in the Social Work field for 16 years. In that time I have worked with diverse populations such as children, developmentally disabled, geriatric, those with a severe mental illness, and adult clients. I have worked in a variety of job settings such as non-profits, hospitals, acute-care, and County. Most recently, I have facilitated groups and provided individual therapy to adults through a community clinic.
