I am a psychologist with over thirty years of experience working with adults and children. My goal is to listen and be present with you as you share what you feel is getting in your way of being happy and successful in life. I will challenge you gently where it seems this is needed and help you develop new ways of understanding and handling existing challenges. I can help you if you are having relationship issues you are trying to figure out or resolve, whether they be past or present. I can help you if you can't stop a maladaptive habit or behavior that bothers you. I will listen and validate if you need to process a prior trauma to help you move beyond it or address current stressors in your life.
During the first session, I will ask you questions so that I can understand the situation and your history. You WILL feel heard and understood.
My greatest strength is my listening and joining skills. I do not just listen in each session, but create an understanding of you that I carry with me from session to session. I recently had a client tell me that outside of her best friend, I knew her better than anyone else. I am warm and caring. Despite this obviously being a paid profession, I do genuinely care about you and want to see you make progress.
I can work with a broad range of adults struggling in their lives. The biggest request I have is that you want to do some work and make some changes.
This is the main approach I use. The goal is to identify behaviors and thoughts that are getting in the way of being happy and reaching your goals. We will then work together to change them.
