As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I believe that the purpose of counseling is to help clients achieve goals and to gain more insight into their lives. Through utilizing my expertise, and professional personal experiences clients will be allotted the opportunity to develop a better understanding of themselves. I have earned my B.A. in Psychological and Social Sciences from Pennsylvania State University, and a M.Ed., from the College of Education's Counseling Psychology Program at Temple University. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and focused on the individualized need of each client. I have found that my compassion for this field has worked as a catalyst in improving clients' coping mechanism to deal with life's difficulties, and helped clients find solutions and rationale to unresolved issues.
First session
During our initial session, I will use a series of open-ended questions to gather information, which will help me to attain a deeper understanding of what you would like to work on during treatment. This information will also help guide my clinical recommendations that will be most suitable for you. Please anticipate being asked a vary of questions and reviewing the pervious sent GAD-7 and PHQ-9 questionnaires. I discuss confidentially, clinical recommendations and no-show policy. I will also invite you to ask questions for clarity and to voice any apprehensions about treatment.
Strengths
As a therapist, my aspiration is to provide clients with a comfortable environment so that they can feel at ease to share their experiences, hardships, hopes and dreams. By unifying a client centered, strengths-based style, I will be able to facilitate clients' understanding in their progression and psychological growth.
Ideal clients
I advise/support individuals, families, and couples. I have experience working with an array of individuals ranging from children to older adults.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In our therapy sessions together, I will teach you the difference between a thought and a belief, and how to acknowledge a thought without attaching to it through thought challenging, reframing, restructuring, exposure coupled with other behavioral techniques, which is based on individualized need. "Dark thoughts in the mind are not "you," but are false messages from the brain. And because you are not your brain, you don't have to listen to them." - Jeffery M. Schwartz
