Nimish Chakarwarti
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to individuals ages 13 and older. I work with individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and other mental health challenges. I also have a year of experience providing psychiatric care in skilled nursing facilities, where I worked extensively with older adults experiencing a wide range of mental health and neurocognitive conditions, including dementia, depression, anxiety, insomnia, behavioral disturbances, psychotic disorders, and mood disorders. My approach is collaborative and individualized, combining thoughtful medication management with supportive conversations to understand each person’s needs, goals, and preferences. I strive to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your treatment.
First session
During your first session, my priority is to create a comfortable and nonjudgmental space where you can openly share what brings you to care. We’ll discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, lifestyle, and treatment goals. Together, we’ll develop a better understanding of what may be contributing to your symptoms and discuss treatment options that may include medication, lifestyle changes, therapy, or other supportive approaches. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, better informed about your mental health, and with a clear, individualized plan for moving forward.
Strengths
I bring a compassionate, patient-centered, and nonjudgmental approach to every session. I take the time to listen carefully and understand the whole person rather than focusing only on symptoms or a diagnosis. I value open communication and work collaboratively with my patients to develop treatment plans that feel realistic and aligned with their individual goals. By combining evidence-based medication management with education and supportive conversations, I strive to help patients better understand their mental health and feel confident and actively involved in their care.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is looking for support in improving their mental health and overall quality of life. They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, difficulty sleeping, problems with focus or motivation, or other emotional and behavioral challenges. I enjoy working with individuals who want to better understand what they are experiencing and are open to exploring treatment options. Whether you are seeking mental health care for the first time or have been in treatment for years, my goal is to meet you where you are and work collaboratively toward meaningful and realistic goals.
Treatment methods
Supportive
I incorporate supportive therapy into sessions by creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can openly discuss their thoughts, emotions, stressors, and life experiences. I use active listening, validation, encouragement, and collaborative problem-solving to help clients recognize their strengths, develop healthier coping strategies, and navigate everyday challenges. Supportive therapy complements medication management by addressing the emotional and practical factors that can influence mental health and overall well-being.
