Hello, I’m Tim McShane, a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner who’s passionate about helping people feel heard, supported, and empowered in their mental health journey. I work with adults facing challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe and respected while we work together toward lasting wellness. I’m looking forward to meeting you and being a part of your growth.
In our first session, my main goal is to get to know you. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what challenges you’re currently facing, and what you hope to achieve. I’ll ask some questions about your background and mental health history to get a fuller picture, but there’s no pressure to share anything before you’re ready. If you're open to or interested in medication, we can also explore whether it might be a helpful part of your treatment plan. I’ll explain options clearly and answer any questions, so you can make informed decisions about your care. This session is a space to build trust, ask questions, and see if we’re a good fit. You don’t need to have everything figured out just come as you are. We’ll take the next steps together.
What sets my approach apart is the blend of clinical depth and practical, results-oriented care I bring to each session. I use evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, shift behaviors, and build more effective coping strategies. My style is direct yet compassionate I believe in getting to the root of issues while also focusing on real-world progress. I bring many years of experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including high-acuity hospital units and crisis care. This background has given me a strong foundation in managing complex mental health conditions, as well as an ability to remain calm and grounded in emotionally intense situations. Having grown up in the Philadelphia area, I understand the local culture and community values, which helps me connect with clients in a real and authentic way. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or a major life transition, I offer a steady, nonjudgmental space where change is possible and support is consistent.
I’m best positioned to work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected whether from anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or burnout. Many of the clients I serve are high-functioning on the outside but struggling internally to manage their emotions, relationships, or sense of purpose. I work well with individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, challenge old patterns, and create meaningful change. Whether you're seeking relief from constant worry, support through a major life shift, or space to heal from past experiences, I’m here to walk with you at your pace, without judgment. My goal is to help you feel grounded, empowered, and gain back a sense of control.
