Hi, My name is Laurel Raissman. My style is highly interactive, focused on communication and achieving clients goals. It is important that my clients are comfortable with me and know that I am available to them. Making life changes is not always easy, but I believe in human resilience and strength.
My thirty plus years of experience as a therapist places me in a truly unique place.
I believe in using humor, encouragement, support, validation, and building confidence and self esteem in every meeting.
First session
I believe the first session has two purposes. One to introduce myself and to explain that they are in a safe place. I ask that they tell me what brought them in and the I explain that this session is for them to et comfortable with me. I tell them that I will be learning about them in the information that they choose to share

I love working with any age group that wants to make life changes. Each client bring their own challenges and my goal is to help them meet these challenges.

Supportive
I use more then one modality. I am a marriage and family therapist. I see clients dealing with many different issues. Anxiety, depression, couple issues, grief to name a few
Family Therapy
In couples counseling the therapist is the neutral party in the session. She actually represents the relationship so each of the couples can feel safe in the session
Couples Counseling
I also work with individuals, that have life issues, people going through separation or divorce, anxiety and depression, and grief
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Any type of is based on support, empathy, and understanding. It is important that the therapist is a support system to her clients
