Hello, my name is Sonia Gomez, and I am a Licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist. I believe that everyone deserves a safe, compassionate space where they can feel heard, understood, and supported. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, and I want you to know that you don't have to face life's challenges alone. My goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where we can work together to help you better understand yourself, navigate difficult emotions, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, I am here to walk alongside you at your own pace. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and am honored to provide therapy in the language that feels most comfortable for you. It is a privilege to be part of each client's journey, and I look forward to helping you build hope, resilience, and the confidence to move toward the life you want.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My role is to listen with compassion, ask thoughtful questions, and help you explore your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful to you. Together, we'll work to better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck while building on your strengths to support healing and growth. Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and respected. There is no pressure to share everything all at once. Therapy is a journey, and we will move at a pace that feels right for you. Above all, I want you to know that your feelings matter. Whatever has brought you here, you deserve to be heard with empathy, understanding, and without judgment. My hope is that you leave each session feeling supported, empowered, and reminded that you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Therapy is an opportunity to gain insight, develop new coping skills, and build a stronger connection with yourself and the life you want to create. Every person's journey is unique, so I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs, goals, and comfort level. Together, we will move at a pace that feels safe, supportive, and manageable for you. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Art Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, selecting the techniques that best fit your unique situation and strengths. During our first session, we'll take time to explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin developing a plan that feels right for you. My hope is that you leave each session feeling heard, supported, and encouraged as we work together toward meaningful and lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with adolescents, adults, and families who are looking for support as they navigate life's challenges and transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, low self-esteem, or major life changes, I strive to provide a compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change. You don't have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Whether you're seeking support during a difficult time or simply hoping to live with greater confidence, balance, and purpose, we can work together to help you reach your goals. As a bilingual therapist fluent in English and Spanish, I am committed to providing culturally responsive care and creating an environment where clients from diverse backgrounds feel respected, valued, and comfortable expressing themselves in the language that feels most natural.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel genuinely heard, accepted, and understood. Rather than focusing on directing or “fixing,” I aim to meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I trust in your natural capacity for growth and healing, and I work to create a therapeutic relationship built on empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. In our work together, you set the pace and direction. My goal is to support you in developing greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and confidence as you move toward the changes that feel most meaningful to you.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In therapy, I help clients develop practical tools and coping strategies to manage symptoms such as anxiety, depression, stress, and overwhelm. We work collaboratively to challenge unhelpful thoughts, build healthier perspectives, and create meaningful behavioral changes that support your goals and well-being. CBT is a structured and goal-oriented approach, but I always tailor treatment to your individual needs and move at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable for you. My goal is to help you feel more empowered, balanced, and confident in your daily life.

Gestalt

I also incorporate Gestalt therapy principles into my work, which focuses on increasing awareness of your present-moment thoughts, emotions, and experiences. This approach encourages you to explore what you are feeling and experiencing right now, rather than focusing only on the past or future. In therapy, we may pay attention to patterns in how you relate to yourself and others, helping you become more aware of unmet needs, emotions, and ways of coping that may no longer be serving you. Through this process, you can gain deeper insight into yourself and begin making more intentional and meaningful choices. Gestalt therapy is experiential and collaborative, and I always tailor it to your comfort level. My goal is to support you in feeling more grounded, self-aware, and connected to your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in the present moment.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I also use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), which is a strengths-based approach that focuses on what is already working in your life and how we can build on those strengths to create positive change. Rather than spending extensive time on problems alone, we focus on your goals, your resilience, and the steps that can help you move forward. In therapy, we may explore your hopes for the future, identify times when things have been even slightly better, and highlight the skills and resources you already have. Together, we work to create practical, realistic steps toward the changes you want to see. SFBT is collaborative and goal-oriented, and I always tailor it to your individual needs and pace. My intention is to help you feel empowered, hopeful, and supported as you make meaningful progress toward the life you want.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I also incorporate mindfulness-based approaches into my work, which focus on helping you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment without judgment. This practice encourages you to slow down, observe your internal experiences with curiosity, and respond to them with greater intention rather than reacting automatically. In therapy, we may use mindfulness techniques such as grounding exercises, breath awareness, and guided reflection to help you manage stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. These skills can support you in developing greater emotional balance and resilience in your daily life. Mindfulness-based therapy is gentle and flexible, and I tailor it to your comfort level and needs. My goal is to help you feel more centered, present, and connected to yourself as you navigate life’s challenges.
