Hi this is Dhan! When you need a therapist, you need someone who can talk to you and listen to you wholly. I believe in meeting a person-in-place approach and building a rapport from there. You are taking time to read all this content as you might be trying to find help to manage your stress, anxiety, depression or trauma and thinking about who to turn to. Sometimes, you may be looking for someone to offer you choices, clarify issues or provide guidance to lead you on your way. I’m here to provide you with a safe space and listen to you non-judgmentally. I have extensive experience working with clients of different backgrounds and I am trained in most evidence-based mental health treatment modalities. Some mental health symptoms are culture-specific and you may want to explore them from your cultural perspective. My life-long goal is to provide culturally and linguistically relevant counseling and therapies. I have helped individuals and families to navigate through difficult situations with acculturation, adjustment and reducing barriers to access, manage and treat mental health. I will be using a collaborative approach to explore and utilize your strengths.
The first session is overwhelming, I do not know you and you do not know me either. I use reflective listening skills and try my best to provide you with unconditional positive regard, so you feel comfortable sharing your issues. One of my biggest strengths that I get as feedback from my past clients and supervisors is I have the innate ability to bring back concerns and topics for conversations in a respectful way. I will make you feel comfortable and ground our conversations on the goals set.
I like to convert subjective data into an objective to give you a sense that some of your feelings and emotions have a way to measure. Also, I use an eclectic approach to get to know you from the beginning and build a respectful working relationship. Additionally, I used motivational interviewing skills to get to the core of your issues and bring back those core issues for healthy conversations.
I also provide counseling in the Nepali language. For much of my time in the human service field, I have worked with low-income, bilingual and multicultural communities. If you are looking for a therapist with shared living experience, I may meet some of your criteria as I became a counselor/therapist with a deep passion for the field.
