My therapy approach is always non judgmental, attuned, and integrates active listening as well as unconditional positive regard. In addition, my multicultural personal and professional backgrounds allow me to work with a variety of cultures. Also, I try my best to meet the client where they are and learn where it is they want to be/go in life. This allows me to assist them in accomplishing the aforementioned in compassionate, authentic, and realistic ways.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is typically focused on getting to know your reasons for seeking therapy in a personalized and in depth way. Also, the 1st session will be utilized to become familiar with your preferences and comfort level.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am down to earth, attentive, and dedicated to your growth and self-empowerment.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with clients ages 18-65. I find that I have the best fit with clients who innately enjoy gaining self-insight and psychoeducation; as well as clients who understand that therapy is a collaborative working relationship. My approaches are based in healing, psychoeducation, holistic treatment planning, and client's ability to improve and or learn internal motivation/self-determinism. I integrate active listening and empathy as well as encouragement and motivation to modify and adjust the behavioral and thinking problems causing stagnation and or distress.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Oftentimes there are a lot of emotions, beliefs, and attitudes that are in our subconscious that we would benefit from tapping into in order to process and address them effectively.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts, emotions, and behavior are interrelated and influence one another. It’s important to become familiar with this aspect of human nature to gain better self understanding and self regulation.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Accepting where we currently are and that healing, growth, and or change require personal commitment are integral parts of therapy offering life changing benefits.

I've had many therapists throughout my life and, although we haven't had many sessions yet, I'm already warming up to Shante and feeling comfortable. It usually takes longer than that to have the exchanges that we have during a session. She's awesome and I trust her.
