Hi! I'm a licensed clinical social worker and have worked with many clients for the past ten years. I have a passion for parenting, giving parents the skills they need to have happy, healthy relationships with their children. I also enjoy helping people learn skills relating to emotional regulation, anger management, and anxiety so that they can live most successfully and be as healthy as possible.
The first session I begin to feel out the reason you are coming to therapy, what you are looking for, and how I can be most helpful to you. I also feel out what style is best for YOU as there are many approaches to therapy. Most importantly, it's an opportunity for us to begin to develop a therapeutic relationship at your pace!
I relate to people as individuals and customize treatment for them. Not a one-fits-all approach. I am warm, playful, empathetic. I use stories and some playful activities to make therapy more interesting at times if the client is receptive.
My passion is helping parents who are overwhelmed with parenting. I have great tricks and tools and guide them in a supportive way with numerous strategies. I also love working with adults and children struggling with emotional regulation, anger management, and anxiety as it is key to being successful in all that we do!
I offer supportive therapy when clients are struggling. Sometimes people just need the accountability and maintenance to support them where they are at or in work they have already done.
Strength based is very important and overlaps many modalities. It really helps to support the positive work, changes, and strengths the client already has. It empowers the client and gives them the reminder that they are capable and gives them the strength to move forward.
Education is power. Psychoeducation overlaps with many different modalities and help client reframe situations and challenge their own beliefs just by learning and understanding more.
I use a lot of CBT work in my work with adults and children to help challenge irrational and unhelpful beliefs and replace them with more accurate thinking to help the client feel better.
I don't use this exact model, although I am familiar with it. However I do a lot of parenting with clients.
