My name is Ben Betsiha, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas, as well as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and National Certified Counselor. My work focuses on providing inclusive, culturally responsive care to underserved communities, particularly Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). With expertise in clinical mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders, I utilize evidence-based practices to help clients navigate life's challenges and work toward meaningful change. My mission is to create safe spaces where clients feel supported, empowered, and valued as they heal and grow.
The first session is an opportunity to create a foundation of trust and understanding. We’ll start with introductions and discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. I’ll ask open-ended questions to explore your goals, challenges, and what you hope to gain from our work together. Together, we’ll co-create a safe, judgment-free space where you feel comfortable sharing your story. I will explain my therapeutic approach and answer any questions you have about the process. We’ll also review confidentiality, boundaries, and expectations for our work. Depending on your needs, we might dive into immediate concerns or begin identifying patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The session is all about you, and I’ll ensure you leave with a clear sense of direction and support for your journey.
My greatest strengths as a provider stem from my ability to blend empathy, cultural awareness, and evidence-based practices into my therapeutic approach. As someone who has navigated the immigrant experience, I bring a unique understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities. My lived experiences and professional training allow me to connect authentically with clients and offer culturally tailored interventions. I excel at creating a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore their vulnerabilities. My strengths-based approach empowers clients to recognize their resilience and take charge of their healing process. I am skilled in trauma-informed care, substance use counseling, and vocational rehabilitation, and I’m adept at working with adolescents and young adults in challenging circumstances and refugee and immigrant population. Additionally, my eclectic approach to therapy ensures that interventions are tailored to each client’s specific needs. By integrating techniques from CBT, person-centered therapy, and holistic methods, I help clients address their challenges while fostering personal growth and self-discovery. My commitment to social justice and cultural humility is not just a philosophy—it’s embedded in every interaction I have with my clients.
I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, empowering them to develop healthier coping strategies. This method is particularly effective for addressing anxiety, depression, and trauma, among other concerns.
As a culturally sensitive therapist, I prioritize understanding and respecting each client’s unique cultural background, values, and experiences. I aim to create a safe and affirming space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued
I embrace a person-centered approach by fostering an environment of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. This helps clients feel supported and empowered to explore their own strengths and potential for growth.
In group therapy, I facilitate a supportive and collaborative space where clients can share experiences, learn from others, and build meaningful connections. I focus on promoting trust and mutual respect among group members to enhance the therapeutic process.
My humanistic approach focuses on holistic growth and self-actualization. I encourage clients to explore their personal values, meaning, and purpose to lead more fulfilling lives.
