New to Grow
I bring a strong foundation in race-based trauma work and a client-centered and holistic healing approach. I’m especially passionate about supporting Black men and women on their journeys through the 21st-century Diaspora. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oregon, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington state, I’m a compassionate therapist who believes deeply in healing, growth, and personal transformation. You don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. Please Note: Therapy does not FIX anything! Therapy is an act of courage and self-love. I have extensive experience working with adults from ALL ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds. I am particularly passionate about formulating alliances that will inform and strengthen the individual on their individual and collective journey in the 21 Century. Therapy is not a bad word. I would love to help you identify the right approach for your healing.
First sessions are an opportunity for you the client and me as the Therapist to establish a rapport and begin building an alliance with you as the expert on your own life.
My greatest strength is being non-judgmental and having the ability to talk to any one on any level. I believe communication in therapy should be real and based on what is important to you as the client.
I enjoy working with adults because they have the option of choosing for themselves whether they know it or not. Many adults are not aware that they themselves are not on their list of things to care about. I also believe many adults simply were not taught to advocate for themselves. Therapy can be a great place for a person to be heard, sometimes for the first time in their life.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I practice this with all of my clients once the problem is identified and goals have been established. This includes identifying current coping strategies (if any) and teaching new, healthy approaches to resolving personal issues whether related to work, family, school, life transition, interpersonal relationships or other.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I educated the client on thoughts, behaviors and actions and the associated outcomes to determine if they have getting the desired outcomes or if change is necessary.
Couples Counseling
I have worked with numerous couples assisting them in building healthier communication patterns which is often at the core of interpersonal relationship struggles. I also assist them in identifying their individual attachment style and love language in addition to rooting out any codependency patterns that may exist.
