Emily Lambert

LPC (she/they)3 years of experience

From my 3 years of experience so far, one of the most important pieces of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. I strive to create a safe, supportive, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment to work on building coping skills, managing emotions, or exploring your identity. I believe you know yourself best, and I'd be honored to walk this path of life with you, whether it's for a few feet or for miles down the road. I also believe therapy can be a mix of fun and serious. I enjoy incorporating a mix of creativity and evidence-based practices to provide an integrative and personalized experience to help you achieve your goals. My passion for learning and working with trauma has led me to begin the process of becoming a certified EMDR therapist. I'm currently in the beginning stages of EMDR training through the Trauma Specialists Training Institute, which is approved by EMDRIA. I entered this career because of the people in my life and wanting to be a safe space for those who may not have that anywhere else. My hope through therapy is for you to grow closer to your authentic self and cope with life's challenges. If you're ready to take that next step, I'd be honored to join you on the adventure!

First session

Beginning therapy can be scary for some people! In our first session, my hope is to begin to get to know one another, help you understand my therapeutic style, and start to explore what you'd like to work on in therapy. We may talk about the challenges and concerns you're facing and wanting to focus on. We'll begin collaborating on a plan to help you achieve your goals and what therapy could look like moving forward going at your pace.

Strengths

My greatest strength is being able to form connections with people quickly through a supportive and empathetic approach. Clients from all walks of life have told me that the therapeutic space felt natural and supportive from the start. I also use an integrative approach to therapy that pulls from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR Therapy, and Strengths-Based approaches all through a trauma-informed lens to best personalize the experience to achieve your goals.

Ideal clients

Sometimes life can be difficult and chaotic. I strive to create a space of warmth, open-mindedness, and curiosity to help you work towards finding more balance and authenticity in your life. I've worked with clients with many different types of goals with the most common client concerns being anxiety, depression, coping, and low self-esteem. Specifically, I love working with those in the LGBTQ+ community by providing affirming care that celebrates diversity in identities and relationships. No matter your identity, my ideal client is someone who is looking for ways to grow through a safe and collaborative experience.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Utilizing Person-Centered Therapy skills and techniques allows for a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space to be created for each client. I believe you know yourself the best and my role is to guide in whatever direction you want to grow in. I strive to create a collaborative, supportive, and empowering experience to work towards achieving your goals at your own pace.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through the use of skills and techniques rooted in CBT, I will help you create a set of strategies to reach your goals and improve your mindset. One piece of this is understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact and how to target these unhelpful thoughts while building coping strategies that work for you to reach a less stressful and more fulfilling life.

Strength-Based

Every person has skills and abilities that are unique to them. By identifying these strengths and focusing on resiliency, we can lay a foundation to pull from the resources you already have as we move through the therapeutic journey.

EMDR

Sometimes we feel "stuck" and struggle to move forward in life, especially after experiencing a trauma or significant life event. EMDR therapy focuses on anchoring you to the present while processing past experiences that have impacted your belief system and shaped your interactions in the world.
