(he/him)
I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with three years of experience working with populations 9 years and older. I have served in the crisis/ER, inpatient, and outpatient settings. I have experience with treating/managing patients with anxiety, major depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, anger management, addiction issues, and chronic mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders. Whether your challenge is diagnostic assessment, psychotherapy, or medication, feel free to check in.
The first session is essentially about getting to know/understand the patient as a person. It involves active listening and interactive processes to understand the patient in a non-judgmental manner, as well as their prior successes and failures/their struggles, treatment history, strengths, and weaknesses. Working with the patient, the background information gathered is used to design an agreeable treatment plan with clear, specific, and attainable goals and objectives that meet the needs of the patient's personal needs.
Acceptance, empowering patients to be responsible for their own care, and embracing and facing their fears/challenges.
My ideal population is preferably adults, 18 yo and older, who experience emotional disturbance, challenges, and stressors coping with day-to-day life. I am non-judgmental and meet clients wherever they are, and work with them through their recovery/stabilization process.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Explore patient thoughts, fears, and challenges, and how these impact behaviors and emotions, then work with them to re-orient thoughts, developing coping strategies and plans to overcome these negative thoughts, changing behaviors over time to overcome challenges.
