Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in the Richmond, Virginia metropolitan area. I received my doctorate from Virginia State University, with pre-doctoral training from Harvard Medical School. I have been in private practice for six years. I assist people from various backgrounds and ages with becoming the best versions of themselves so they can show up for their past, present, and future selves, as well as their family and friends who love them.
During our first session, we will start with brief introductions. I am interested in the "Why?" What brings you to therapy right here and right now? We will take a look at the three top things you want to get out of our work together, and develop a plan to reach those goals.
I am able to create a familiar, safe space for those with whom I work. I have worked with a variety of clientele, including those in crisis, those involved with the criminal justice system, those with serious mental illness, working professionals, trauma victims, students, high-performing individuals, etc. I am able to meet each client where they are and tailor treatment to their individual needs.
I enjoy working with young people of color to help navigate life's challenges, additionally school, early career, relationships, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, self-concept, etc. I have also worked extensively with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with neurodivergence, and those in polyamorous relationships.
Brandon Williams offers therapy covered by Kaiser Permanente - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Virginia.
I believe our thoughts control our behavior. At times, I will assign my clients homework in order to solidify concepts explored in session.
I enjoy working with clients of various ethnicities, genders, spiritualities, etc.
I tend to tailor my interventions based on the needs of the client. I like to pull from various modalities based on the client's presentation.
There are times when it's advantageous to focus on addressing a main issue rather quickly.
