Do any of these describe you: 1) Pregnant or perinatal woman who is feeling overwhelmed or "out of sorts?" 2) Older adult trying to navigate retirement, becoming an empty nester, (or other life change) while trying to find a "new" sense of purpose? 3) Person in recovery trying to live "life on life's terms." If so, we may be a good fit. I am a licensed professional counselor, with extensive experience helping pregnant and postpartum women, older adults, and people of all ages who are "newer" to navigating recovery. While my approach is very eclectic, I gravitate towards solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy, with a person-centered Rogerian approach. While I prefer focusing on solutions, rather than "living in the problem," I am dedicated to walking along side you as you find your way--you decide the path that takes you there.
Our first session typically entails a bio-psycho-social assessment (where I get to know you better) as well as a discussion and decision about your treatment goals. I also always ask if the client would like to continue with me as their therapist (at the end of the first session). This is because it is important that both you and I agree that this partnership will be a good fit.
My biggest strengths are that I am very non-judgmental, compassionate and empathetic. What is most important is that your life looks the way you want it to. My hope is that I can help you get there.
Women who are navigating post-partum depression; Older adults going through retirement, and other adjustment changes, and those who are in recovery from addictions. Adults only.
I utilize the following from CBT: coping skills, role-playing, cognitive restructuring, as well as between session home assignments.
