Hi it's nice to meet you, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. I received my Masters from Fuller Theological Seminary and have been practicing for over 8 years. I help adults struggling with trauma, anxiety and life stressors to regain their sense of agency, make sense of the past, and make progress towards their goals for the future.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we'll begin with introductions and need to know policies and procedures, answer any initial questions you may have, and I then will work on getting to know you and your reasons for coming into therapy at this time. Some people may feel worried about sharing so much information in the beginning, but we will move at a pace that is comfortable to you as we work together to develop a treatment plan to best meet your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have been told that clients appreciate my kindness, warmth, and down-to-earth style as a therapist

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I believe that healing from trauma and handling life’s stressors is possible. You are here because you are ready to do this brave healing work, and it’s time for a change. You want to understand yourself better and take ownership of showing up in life in the way that you want to. I am also passionate about working with those in helping roles to understand and manage compassion fatigue, burnout and grow in realistic self-care practices as well as supporting individuals dealing with post-traumatic stress and anxiety. I enjoy working with Christian clients who want to incorporate faith into our work together

My treatment methods

EMDR

I am an EMDRIA Certified clinician, incorporating EMDR into a client centered and trauma informed approach to therapy to treat trauma related disorders, anxiety and more.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I received training in CBT several years ago and use it regularly with clients in understanding patterns of behaviors, root causes of issues, and taking agency with thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

I just had my second session with Karen and am excited to continue working with her. She is very knowledgeable about the EMDR process and is making sure I am set up for success. I can hopefully give an updated review when we are further along on our journey.

Very positive first impression. Karen is patient and attentive. There was a good balance of her just letting me vent and guided, purposeful questions. I'm already feeling encouraged and hopeful.
