Nizhu here—licensed therapist, gym junkie, boxing enthusiast, and proudly ranked in the top 1% of MST therapists worldwide. With over 8 years in the field, I specialize in men’s mental health, trauma recovery, and motivational interventions grounded in strength-based and evidence-based models. Somewhere between CBT worksheets and trauma processing, you'll find a tattooed, bearded clinician who believes in the healing power of laughter, real talk, and showing up every day with purpose (and probably steak and eggs). I don't just do this work—I live it, with a Superman-level drive to help others feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session with me, you can expect a warm, judgment-free space where we focus on building real rapport think of it as laying the foundation for a strong, trusting partnership. We’ll talk about what matters most to you, your goals, and any challenges you’re facing, all while keeping the heavy stuff feeling as light and manageable as possible. Together, we’ll start mapping out a plan that fits your unique needs, working as a team to help you move toward the life you want with honesty, humor, and hope.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my therapeutic approach is how I blend a range of effective methods like sex therapy, CBT, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and racial trauma work into conversations that feel natural, relatable, and never weighed down by clinical jargon. I focus on meeting you where you are, making complex topics approachable, and creating a space where real progress happens through honest dialogue and a bit of humor. The result is that clients often tell me therapy feels less like a chore and more like a meaningful conversation that actually moves them forward.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I’m best positioned to serve clients who are juggling multiple challenges and ready to build a solid foundation for lasting change whether that’s managing anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, or life transitions. What we have in common is real: I’ve been there too including felt low, faced setbacks, and even been physically attacked because of my name and ethnic background. Yet, like you, I find strength every day. My approach is never about judgment; instead, I use a push-and-pull method much like building muscles: we challenge unhelpful patterns while celebrating every victory, big or small. If you’re someone who values real progress, honest work, and a few laughs along the way, we’ll get along just fine because often, laughter is the sign we’re moving in the right direction.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my private practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients catch those sneaky, unhelpful thoughts that like to stir up anxiety, depression, or just plain chaos. Together, we work on replacing those mental potholes with more realistic, balanced thinking and yes, sometimes that means asking if your boss *actually* hates you or if you're just overdue for a snack. CBT is structured, evidence-based, and surprisingly empowering kind of like training at the gym or going for a good run: challenging at first, but ultimately strengthening and energizing.

Strength-Based

In sessions, I use a strength-based approach because let’s be honest, most clients walk in thinking they’re a mess, but I’m here to show them they’re just untapped brilliance with a side of burnout. We focus less on “fixing” and more on amplifying what already works (spoiler: your sarcasm and stubbornness might actually be assets). It’s like therapeutic personal training except instead of lifting weights, we’re lifting insight, self-worth, and the occasional existential crisis with a dash of humor.

Sex Therapy

In sex therapy, I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore concerns around intimacy, communication, and sexual functioning because awkward topics deserve professional support, not just Google searches at 2 a.m. I use evidence-based interventions like sensate focus, cognitive reframing, and psychoeducation to help clients reconnect with themselves and their partners. Think of it as couples therapy with a twist with less small talk, more real talk (and yes, sometimes homework comes with a “Do Not Disturb” sign).

Racial trauma treatment

When working with racial trauma, I use a culturally responsive approach that includes narrative therapy, somatic techniques, and grounding skills to help clients process lived experiences of systemic oppression and identity-based harm. We hold space for both the pain and the power—because healing racial trauma isn’t just about surviving, it’s about reclaiming joy, voice, and rest (yes, rest is revolutionary). It’s deep work, but we do it with care, compassion, and sometimes a well-placed side-eye at the systems we’re unlearning.

Motivational Interviewing

With Motivational Interviewing, I help clients navigate ambivalence like a therapist-GPS—“recalculating” gently until they’re ready to make that next turn toward change. Using reflective listening, open-ended questions, and a lot of patience, we explore their values and goals without judgment (and without me nagging like a well-meaning relative). It’s all about finding their own motivation because let’s be honest, no one likes being told what to do... unless it’s by their pets.
