LCSW, 18 years of experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Virginia, but also licensed in Indiana. I received my Masters from Western Kentucky University and have been practicing since 2011. I have worked with adults, adolescents and children throughout my career with the main goal of helping them to make improvements in their lives one step at a time.
In our first session together, we’ll start with introductions and getting to know one another, then dive into the specific challenges you’re facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Throughout my years in this field I have strived to meet my clients where they are. In doing this, trust is built, achievable and agreeable goals are established, and positive progress has been made.
We all come from different walks of life and aren’t immune to the stressors of life, but taking the first step in acknowledging that something is “off” and seeking assistance is the first step to a life changing experience. Understanding this about one's situation helps me as a professional to equip you with the tools necessary to make positive changes.

Chrisonia is very relatable. She provides a friendly environment that allows me to open up about my concerns knowing that I am heard and will be guided to solutions. She doesn't hold my hand instead she empowers me to come up with effective solutions for the topics at hand. This approach often reminds me that I'm smarter/stronger than I realized at the start of the session. Imposter syndrome doesn't stand a chance in this type of environment.

What has stood out so far is the relatability. She understand my perspective but also challenges me to look differently as well. She has passion that I haven't see in other therapist/Counselors. I am enjoy our sessions and look forward to more.

Chrisonia was attentive and offered great feedback. Good energy.
I’ve been using CBT in my practice for well over 10 years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
I have been using DBT within the last 5 years as a way to work toward exploring other perspectives and truths in various scenarios in your life that are causing you distress. This will be done in a way that doesn’t dismiss your position, but rather helps you consider and introduce an alternative view that may also be valid.
