Hello, dear one. Life is a journey. Sometimes we can get lost and feel confused. Asking for help in those moments can be scary. Congratulations! You have taken a courageous step on your behalf! I am Louise Kenny, a licensed clinical social worker in two states, Florida and Connecticut. I have been dedicated to working in the field of helping others traverse the sometimes rocky, stormy, and dark spaces we can encounter during this journey through life. I work primarily with individuals ranging from young to older adults. I have worked for over 22 years in the field of therapeutic social work. My work experience spans bereavement, addiction, trauma, crisis intervention, groups, workshop facilitation, and teaching. I look forward to meeting you and providing assistance.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

If you are thinking, "This is my first time seeking outside help...I don't know what to expect". I can offer you some information. Because your challenges are unique to you, I attempt to really see and hear you in the context of your life situation. I seek to engage you in a conversation that invites you to feel safe as you share your story, or perhaps a specific issue or need. I invite you to use your sessions to ask and explore the questions and answers you need and wish to explore. The initial session is longer as it will involve a collection of your history. The length of time engaged in this process varies from a month to several months or longer depending on the type of presenting issues. Lastly, sometimes, this process can be fun. It can also be hard work. You are worth it!

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I frequently draw upon the literature that has emerged from ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholic and or Dysfunctional Family Systems) Gestalt therapy, Existential and Humanistic psychology. I have found this body of information profoundly useful in helping clients to understand the formation of original wounds and associated beliefs with great compassion while transforming the inner victim to its rightful place, the empowered warrior. I have walked this walk and I have seen darkness, light, and a spectrum of color in between. Life is an adventure and a gift to truly behold in awe and wonder.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As previously noted, one area I have a lot of experience in is walking alongside people who are in grief and or bereavement. What I have also found is pet loss is often overlooked, yet pet loss can be very profound. I am also available to people who are dealing with a terminal illness. This is another group of people who don't get the support they sometimes need.
