Welcome to Grow. I am glad you took a step towards self-care at this time. My name is Lois and I have been a clinical social worker since 1998, working as a psychotherapist with individuals and families. My experience is working with depression, anxiety, substance use, grief and trauma. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your experiences and transform them. I am a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). Somatic Experiencing therapy involves being gently guided to become aware of general felt sense and body sensations and increasing tolerance for distressing emotions in the mind-body field. In addition to being a social worker, I am also a licensed acupuncturist and a massage therapist. Many years of doing body work inform my talk-therapy practice. I view body as a container for the emotional and psycho-spiritual experiences and in order to change patterns that are no longer working for you, getting in touch with innate wisdom of your body can be an effective way to heal. First session involves you discussing what it is that you would like to address in therapy and explore how we might collaborate together towards your goals.
Strengths
I work with adults on increasing tolerance capacity for distress and emotional regulation. When the nervous system is flexible enough, you will find that you can move with ease from stressed state to relaxation and safety. Dysfunction in life happens when you are stuck in "stressed" or "unsafe" mode and unable to come to full resolution. I can help you move through difficult experiences in life so you can grow and be more yourself, and at home with yourself.
