Chidinma Ogbeide
I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who believes healing begins in a space where you feel heard, respected, and never judged. I work collaboratively with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, insomnia, postpartum mental health concerns, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and personalized. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, I take time to understand your unique story, identify what's contributing to your symptoms, and develop a treatment plan that aligns with your goals and values. When appropriate, treatment may include medication management, supportive therapy, practical coping strategies, and coordination with your therapist or primary care provider. My goal is to help you feel more like yourself again—calmer, more confident, and better equipped to navigate life's challenges while creating lasting, meaningful change together.
First session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll spend time discussing what brought you to treatment, your current symptoms, medical and mental health history, previous treatments, lifestyle, stressors, strengths, and what you hope to achieve. I believe in asking thoughtful questions while creating a comfortable environment where you can speak openly at your own pace. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication recommendations, therapy-based strategies, lifestyle interventions, or additional assessments if needed. You'll leave our first appointment with a clear understanding of your diagnosis (when appropriate), treatment options, and next steps. My goal is for you to feel informed, supported, and hopeful—not rushed or overwhelmed.
Strengths
Clients often tell me they appreciate that I truly listen before making recommendations. I believe effective psychiatric care begins with understanding the whole person—not just a list of symptoms. My style is warm, collaborative, and honest. I'll validate your experiences while also gently challenging unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors when doing so supports your growth. I combine evidence-based medication management with practical therapeutic techniques, helping clients build skills they can use between sessions. I value education and shared decision-making, which means I explain diagnoses, medications, benefits, risks, and alternatives in a way that's easy to understand. Whether you're starting treatment for the first time or returning after difficult experiences elsewhere, my goal is to create a safe, respectful partnership where you feel empowered to take an active role in your mental health. I have a special interest in treating anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, trauma-related conditions, postpartum mental health, mood disorders, and insomnia, and I understand that healing looks different for every individual.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are adolescents and adults who are ready to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives, even if they're feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to begin. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, mood changes, insomnia, postpartum challenges, or persistent stress that is affecting their relationships, work, school, or daily functioning. Many of my clients have spent months or even years trying to "push through" on their own before seeking help. They want more than temporary relief—they're looking for lasting strategies, thoughtful medication management when appropriate, and a provider who listens without judgment. Whether you're seeking clarity about a diagnosis, exploring treatment options for the first time, or looking to regain balance after a difficult season, I strive to create a collaborative, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your goals, values, and vision for a healthier, more fulfilling life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help you recognize how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, stress, or low self-esteem and replace them with healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. You'll learn practical skills that you can apply in everyday situations to improve your mood, manage difficult emotions, and build long-term resilience.
Motivational Interviewing
Making changes can feel overwhelming, especially when you're unsure where to begin. I use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore your goals, strengthen your confidence, and work through uncertainty without pressure or judgment. Rather than telling you what to do, we'll work together to identify what matters most to you and create realistic, achievable steps that fit your values and lifestyle.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma can affect how we think, feel, relate to others, and respond to everyday stress. I provide care with an understanding that past experiences may influence your current mental health. My approach emphasizes emotional safety, trust, collaboration, and respect for your pace. You will never be pressured to discuss experiences before you're ready. Together, we'll focus on reducing symptoms, building healthy coping skills, and supporting your healing while helping you regain a sense of control and confidence.
