(he/him)
I am a Licensed Therapist with over ten years expierence in the Mental Health Profession based out of Palm Springs, CA. Throughout my years in practice, one thing has remained consistent; my passion for supporting my client's build resiliency and empower themselves to overcome whatever challenges they are facing and improve their lives. I have extensive experience supporting individuals of diverse backgrounds overcome unique and significant life challenges impacting their mental health providing treatment utilizing that is goal-oriented, personalized and supportive.
I know…therapy can feel daunting. Especially, if you have never talked to a therapist, or worse if you had the kind of therapist who just nods and says “Mmm hmm, mmm hmmm, and how did that make you feel?” on repeat. Yeah no thanks. During our first session we will focus on your needs for therapy and goals for treatment. We will work in collaboration on a treatment plan centered around you with your needs and goals. Together, we will establish a therapeutic alliance and create a safe space where you will feel heard and understood without judgment. We will explore and identify your treatment goals, overcome obstacles, and help you achieve a better quality of life. I want you to look forward to our weekly (or bi-weekly) sessions, leaving them more self-assured with effective tools, and thought provoking conversations that help the problems in your life feel more manageable.
As my client, your individual needs and progress during our time together are my top priorities. We will approach each session with transparency, honesty, directness, and a little sarcasm and humor (when appropriate of course). I encourage you provide me feedback, even when it's difficult to ensure your time with me is beneficial and your needs are being met.
I encourage my patients to view therapy as a gift we give ourselves to explore, grow and improve our well-being and quality of life during difficult times. I believe in a collaborative and client centered approach to support you in your journey toward meaningful and significant progress overcoming challenges impacting your mental health and well-being. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression or trauma, or struggling to get out of your own way…I can relate. Let’s talk.
Do you ever believe the messages you tell yourself can be distorted, and because of that, you experience unnecessary emotional distress and self-criticism? As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, I am interested in exploring your mistaken beliefs, unhelpful schemas (rules we live by), and faulty thinking that can be detrimental to your mood, self-esteem and emotional well-being; causing daily interference your daily life. With curiosity and without judgment, we will use a collaborative approach in our sessions to investigate the evidence and efficacy of your unhelpful thought patterns, to reconstruct a “new narrative” of self-talk to build resilience, improve self-esteem and empower yourself to make meaningful changes in your life. CBT places an emphasis on helping you learn effective, evidenced based coping skills to reduce distress and better cope with situations impacting your mood, self-esteem and well-being. CBT is a beneficial tool; either alone or in combination with other therapeutic interventions to address your mental health challenges such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, grief and loss.
DBT is an effective, skills based therapy that helps people learn to accept their emotions, tolerate distress, and change harmful behaviors. It's based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but it's adapted for people who experience emotions intensely. DBT focuses on implementation and practice of core coping skills to regulate distress, improve interpersonal effectiveness and accept their emotions.
Humanistic therapy is a type of talk therapy that focuses on the individual, their potential, and their ability to make choices. It's based on the idea that people are inherently good and have the ability to find their own solutions to problems.
Psychodynamic therapy is a form of talk therapy that helps people understand how their past experiences and unconscious mind shape their current behavior and feelings. It's based on the theories of Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis, but differs from traditional psychoanalysis in that psychodynamic therapists act more as guides than experts.
