Hi, I'm Anika Muhammad, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with extensive experience in behavioral health. My background includes community mental health, hospitals, housing programs, and veteran services. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, family conflict, and relationship stress. I also have extensive experience supporting Veterans and individuals facing complex life challenges. My approach is warm, collaborative, and solution-focused. I use evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, build effective coping skills, and feel more confident in managing life's challenges. In our work together, we'll move at a pace that feels right for you. My goal is to create a supportive space where you can gain insight, build resilience, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and hope.
In our first session, we'll take time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. I'll ask questions to better understand your experiences, concerns, goals, and what you're hoping to gain from our work together. There's no pressure to share everything at once—you can move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You're also welcome to ask questions along the way. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported from the very beginning.
One of my greatest strengths is creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard, supported, and free from judgment. I take a collaborative approach, meeting you where you are while helping you move toward meaningful, lasting change. What sets my work apart is my depth of experience across a variety of settings, including community mental health, hospitals, housing programs, and veteran services. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how to support individuals navigating complex life challenges, trauma, and high levels of stress. I focus on providing practical tools you can use outside of session—not just insight. By integrating CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care, I help clients better understand patterns, manage emotions, strengthen coping skills, and build confidence in handling life's challenges.
I work best with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or navigating stressful life transitions. Many are dealing with anxiety, depression, or the impact of past experiences and want support making sense of what they’re feeling. My ideal clients are open to self-reflection and ready to make small, meaningful changes. They’re looking for practical tools to manage emotions, improve their mindset, and feel more grounded and in control in their daily lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In sessions, we'll explore what's been coming up for you, identify what's driving those thoughts, feelings, or behaviors, and find practical ways to approach things differently. I'll also share tools you can use in everyday life—whether that's managing anxiety, improving your mood, navigating stress, or feeling more confident and in control. My style is collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented. I'm not here to judge or tell you what to do. I'm here to work alongside you, help you gain insight, build effective coping skills, and create meaningful change that extends beyond our sessions.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT to help clients navigate overwhelming emotions, manage stress more effectively, and strengthen their relationships. Together, we'll develop practical skills like mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and healthy communication so you can feel more grounded, confident, and equipped to handle life's challenges.
Trauma Informed Care
I use a trauma-informed approach to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. Together, we'll focus on building practical skills to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and supported as you heal and move forward.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy I use a solution-focused approach to help clients identify their strengths, clarify their goals, and build on what's already working in their lives. Together, we'll focus on practical steps and meaningful progress so you can move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and purpose.
Strength-Based
Strength-Based Therapy I believe that every person has strengths, resilience, and the capacity for growth—even during difficult seasons of life. Using a strength-based approach, we'll identify and build upon your existing abilities, resources, and successes to help you overcome challenges and create lasting positive change.

I felt so comfortable with her from the start, and she was very kind and professional. I look forward to continue working with her.

My experience with this therapist was mixed and I chose not to continue. Her style felt very direct and observational, but not very warm or collaborative, and there wasn’t much focus on building rapport. At times communication felt corrective or assumptive, such as unclear expectations about “being engaged” and disagreements about connectivity or attendance. Overall, while her approach may work for some, I experienced it as intense and lacking the relational support I need in therapy.
