Hi, I’m Anika Muhammad, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over a decade of experience in behavioral health. My background includes community mental health, hospitals, housing programs, and veteran services. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship stress. I also have extensive experience supporting Veterans and individuals managing complex life challenges. My approach is warm, collaborative, and solution-focused. I use evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care to help you understand your thoughts and emotions, build effective coping skills, and feel more in control of your daily life. In our work together, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. My goal is to create a supportive space where you can gain insight, build resilience, and move forward with confidence.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask a few questions to better understand your experiences, goals, and what you’re hoping to work on. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—you can move at your own pace. You’re also welcome to ask questions along the way. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, heard, and supported from the very beginning.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard, comfortable, and not judged. I take a collaborative approach, meeting you where you are while helping you move toward meaningful, lasting change. What sets my work apart is my depth of experience across a variety of settings, including community mental health, hospitals, housing programs, and veteran services. This has given me a strong understanding of how to support individuals navigating complex life challenges, trauma, and high levels of stress. I focus on providing practical, real-life tools you can use outside of session—not just insight. By combining CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care, I help you better understand patterns, manage emotions, and build confidence in handling challenges in your everyday life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors all connect. A lot of the time, we get stuck in patterns that make things feel heavier than they need to be—and together, we’ll work on noticing those patterns and shifting them. In sessions, we’ll look at what’s been coming up for you, figure out what’s underneath it, and find practical ways to handle it differently. I’ll also share tools you can actually use in your day-to-day life—whether that’s managing anxiety, improving your mood, or just feeling more in control. My style is very collaborative. I’m not here to judge or tell you what to do—I’m here to work with you, support you, and help you build skills that make a real difference outside of session too.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT to help clients manage intense emotions, cope with stress, and improve relationships. Together, we build practical skills like mindfulness, emotional regulation, and effective communication, so you can feel more in control and supported in your daily life.

Trauma Informed Care

I use a trauma-informed approach to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. Together, we focus on building skills to help you feel more grounded, in control, and supported as you heal.
