New to Grow
I’m Sandra Galvan, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with over 13 years of experience supporting young adults through older adults from diverse backgrounds. As a bilingual and bicultural therapist, I provide services in both English and Spanish. I’m passionate about mental health and the ways it can open doors in our lives when we feel more centered, confident, and connected to our growth.
During our first session we will focus on what matters most to you and create a clear, individualized plan to support your growth. I will use our time to learn about you, your challenges, your goals, your past experience with therapy. I also look to see if I am the right therapist for your, or if i can guide you to finding the right therapist based on your needs. I prioritize creating a safe, supportive environment, especially if you’re feeling nervous or unsure about starting therapy, so you can move at a pace that feels right for you. I approach our work with honesty, attunement, and respect, integrating practical tools that you can apply in your daily life.
My greatest strengths lie in the passion and intention I bring to my work, along with over a decade of experience supporting clients across diverse settings, including community mental health and hospital care. I approach therapy with a holistic, supportive, and practical style, integrating CBT, solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness to help clients create meaningful, lasting change. I focus on helping individuals reconnect with their values, live with purpose, and build confidence in their process, while offering a grounded and culturally responsive space in both English and Spanish.
My ideal clients are young adults through older adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, cultural stressors, chronic illness, women’s issues, or family challenges, and who feel that something in their life could be better. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are new to therapy or considering taking that first step and want support and guidance throughout the process. With over 13 years of experience across community mental health and hospital settings, I’m well positioned to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them as they build insight, resilience, and meaningful change.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients build on their strengths and focus on what is working, rather than staying stuck in problems. This approach allows us to set clear, meaningful goals and identify small, achievable steps toward change. I incorporate practical tools and weekly interventions to help clients notice progress and build momentum. With years of experience using this method, I value its ability to create a sense of hope, direction, and empowerment while supporting clients in making tangible changes in their daily lives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have extensive experience using CBT as a structured, evidence-based approach to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In my practice, I use CBT as a guide for our sessions, helping identify patterns that may be contributing to distress while building practical strategies for change. I often assign between-session exercises to reinforce skills and track progress, allowing clients to apply what they learn in real-life situations. My approach is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to each client’s needs.
